Robert Baer: Birth, Education, Early life
Robert Booker Baer came into this world on the 1st of July in Los Angeles, in the United States of America in 1952. Unfortunately he had to go through the divorce of his parents when he was just nine years old. When he was young, Baer aimed at professional skiing after he shifted to Colorado in Aspen.
Because of his poor academic results during high school, he had the opportunity of roaming across Europe with his mother. After returning from his trip, to complete his early education, Baer attended Culver Military Academy in Indiana. He pursued higher education at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and graduate by earning a degree in 1976. He also went on to attend University of California, Berkeley to complete his graduate studies.
Baer knows seven languages among which, he has attained fluency in Arabic, French, English and Persian and can converse in Tajik, Baluch, and Russian
Baer has tied the marital with two women in his life and is the father of 3 children including a son and two daughters. All his children are from his first wife, who is a secretary at the State Department. Meanwhile, his second life partner, Dayna Williamson, was his co-worker at CIA.
Robert Baer: Professional Career
Baer had submitted an application to the CIA while he was doing his graduate studies. Although, originally, this was meant to be a prank, he was accepted and had to undergo training for over a year.
After the CIA training, Baer was stationed to work in India in Madras and New Delhi and following this, he was also provided with field assignments at Lebanon, Syria, Sudan, Paris, Morocco, Tajikistan and Yogoslavia. He dedicated 21 years from his life working at CIA and during that time he has been sent to different location, including his Iraq assignment – to organize Saddam Hussein, the Iraqi President’s opposition.
After a successful and prosperous career at CIA, in 1997, he finally retired from the Agency and was honored with the Career Intelligence Medal in the 11th March of 1998.
In his book See No Evil, Baer wrote about the experience that he attained during his 2 decades of service to CIA. Later, this book, along with Sleeping with the Devil inspired a movie Syriana, which went on to win the 2005 Academy Award. Baer has interviewed on many popular show and made guest appearances on shows that are nationally broadcasted.
Currently, Baer works is a columnist at Time’s Intelligence and is a regular contributor to The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and Vanity Fair. He comments on international issues of the United States and its foreign policy very often. Baer is also assigned to work on the Hunting Hitler, the History Channel reality TV show, as the show’s host. Also, he has been hired by CNN as the network’s Intelligence and Security Analyst.
Robert Baer: Social Media
Robert Baer has not been very active on social networking sites, which is really surprising considering how popular these sites are. Maybe he enjoys keeping his daily activities only to himself and those close to him.
Baer’s popularity does not require to be boosted by the internet as he is already a famous media personality. But hopefully he does create his account social media so that we could follow him.
