Louise Minchin : Personal Life
Louise Minchin was born as Louise Mary Grayson on the 8th of September in 1968 in British Hong Kong. Her father was the Major in the Irish Guards of the British Army. She was sent to study at St. Mary’s School, Ascot and later graduated from the University of St. Andrews with a degree in Spanish. She went on to the London College of Communication to study journalism.
On the 6th of June, 1998, she tied the marital knot with David Minchin and the couple has been blessed with two daughters, Scarlett and Mia. The family currently resides near Chester.
Aside from her journalism life, she makes time for charity works as well. She is a contributor to SOS Children’s Villages, a charity settlement for abandoned and orphaned children. She was also a part of the “Around the World in 80 days” for the Children in Need.
Louise Minchin : Professional Life
In her professional career, Minchin has served for the Latin America section at BBC World Service while she was in Argentina for over a year, the Today programme, Five and numerous others news stations. She managed to cover the World Cup in 2006 while touring the whole country meeting England fans.
In 1998, the year when she was married, she had begun working for Radio 5 Live and presented popular programs like Drive and Breakfast. She became regular in presenting programs at BBC News Channel and until the April of 2012, she had been one of the main relief presenters for BBC News at One.
In between this, in 2006 and 2007, she had been a relief presenter on BBC Breakfast and had been assigned the role of co-host from July 2010 to April 2012. Back in April 2008, Minchin had also presented Missing Live, a weekday program.
Also in 2008, she partnered with Colin Jackson to present the Sunday morning show Sunday Life. She had the chance to present live for four weeks while broadcasting Real Rescues with Nick Knowles in November 2009.
In 2010, Minchin had been brought as a co-presenter in The One Snow with Chris Hollins in April and in July, she had to present the show with Matt Baker. She has also presented a documentary called Crime and Punishment which was aired on 12th of March 2012 on BBC One.
The University of Chester honored Minchin with the Honorary Doctors of Letters degree in March 2014.
Her latest achievement is finishing second in the popular cooking show Masterchef’s celebrity version in 2016.
She has made guest appearances in different shows and events which have also brought her to the limelight. Besides, she is also part of different organizations and events.
