Lisa Salters: Birth, Education, Early Life
Alisia Salters, professionally known as Lisa, celebrates her birthday on the 6th of March and was born in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania in United States of America in 1966. For her early education, she studied at the Upper Merion Area High School at King of Prussia.
The school has honored Salters by putting her name up on their hall of fame. To pursue higher education, she attended Penn State University and later graduated by earning a Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism in 1988. While she was in the Lady Lions Basketball team while she was in college, Salters played in the guard position in 1986-1887.
Salters is the cousin of famous former Dallas Cowboys star running back, Tony Dorsett from the University of Pittsburgh.
Lisa Salters: Professional Career
Salters started her career in journalism by taking up a job as a sideline reporter for Monday Night Football in 1995. In the same year, she also joined ABC News’ team of correspondents.
She had the opportunity to cover many major stories while she was at ABC News including the Matthew murder, TWA Flight 800 crash, and the Oklahoma City bombing trial as well. Partnering with Peter Jennings, she also provided coverage for World News Tonight.
After a prosperous five years at ABC News, Salters departed from the network to join another big news network, ESPN, to work as a general assignment reporter in 2000. She became a correspondent who featured on ESPN’s newsmagazine show, E:60.
Her hard work on the story “Ray of Hope” led her to being nominated for a Sports Emmy Award. She was frequently seen featuring on “Outside the Lines”, which is an award-winning series. She was assigned to report the 2002 FIFA World Cup at South Korea and Japan and the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece representing ESPN. She also covered 2006 Winter Olympics Games on behalf of ESPN.
Salters decided to return back to Monday Night Football and depart from ESPN in 2012 and is currently a full-time sideline reporter alongside Mike Trico and Jon Gruden.
