Keith Olbermann: Birth, Education, Early Life, Relationship
Keith Theodore Olbermann was born on the 27th of January in New York City, New York in the United States of America in 1959 as the son of Theodore Olbermann and Marie Katherine. His father worked as a commercial architect and his mother was a preschool teacher.
He was raised in a Unitarian household along with his younger sister Jenna. For his early education, he was sent to study at Hackley School. He was an enthusiastic baseball fan from an early age and supports the New York Yankees. Olbermann’s writing passion came out in an early age when he began writing about baseball.
After graduating from high school in 1975, Olbermann pursued higher education by attending Cornell University when he was only 16 years old. He graduated with a Bachelor in Science degree in Communication in 1979 from the School of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell.
Olbermann is currently involved in a love affair with The Weather Channel’s gorgeous anchor Katy Tur.
Keith Olbermann: Professional Life, Career
Olbermann had already begun his career while he was still in school. He was working for WHTR as the station’s play-by-play announcer and was later hired by WVBR as a sports director.
When he graduated from college, he initially began by working at UPI and RKO Radio Network in 1981 but was later hired by CNN. He has had the opportunity of covering many major events during his time at CNN including the Winter Olympics of 1980. He kept on progressing forward in his career and joined WNEW 1130-AM as a sportscaster, later serving at WCBC-TV stationed at Boston, where he was assigned to work as the sports anchor.
He shifted to Los Angeles in order to join KCBS and KTLA. While he was working at New York City, Olbermann was so impressive at what he did that the California Associated Press named him as the best sportscaster three times. He was also honored with the Golden Mike Award eleven times.
In 1992, Olbermann began serving at SportsCenter after joining ESPN. He worked there for over 5 years after which he departed from the network and helped the launching of ESPN2. In 1995, he was awarded with a Cable ACE Award for the Best Sportscaster.
After this, Olbermann was hired by Fox Sports Net in 1998 and he worked there until 2001 after which he finally got to work as the host of his own show Countdown with Keith Olbermann, which was aired on MSNBC. After departing from the show in 2011, he is currently serving as the host of The Resistance with Keith Olbermann.
One of his many famous published books is The Big Show: A Tribute to ESPN’s SportsCenter.
