Kathie Lee Gifford

Kathryn Lee Epstein celebrates her birthday on the 16th of August and was born in Paris, France in 1953 as the daughter of Joan and Aaron Epstein, who are both native to America.

Gifford spent her childhood growing up in Bowie, Maryland. For her early education, she was sent to study at Bowie High School. Like her mother, Gifford was a gifted singer from an early age and was the singer of Pennsylvania Next Right, a folk group, which she was in school.

In 1971, she graduated from school and went on to pursue higher education at Oral Roberts University at Tulsa, Oklahoma. As she was very enthusiastic about being a performer, she studied music and drama in college.

The lucky man to tie the marital knot with Kathie Lee was none other than Paul Johnson. The couple said their vows in the year in 1976 but sadly, their marriage lasted only until 1982. Later, Frank Gifford asked for her hand and she married him on the 18th of October in 1986. Frank was a renowned football player and a skilled commentator.

The couple was blessed with two beautiful children - Cody Newton Gifford and Cassidy Erin Gifford. Unfortunately, Frank isn’t with us anymore. Because of natural causes, he died on the 9th of August, 2015.

Gifford officially began her professional career when she was hired on the show “Name that Tune” as the show’s singer. In addition to this, she also began working as a sidekick for Tom Kennedy. She worked as the vocalist on the show for around 4 years (1974-1978). After that, Gifford joined the show “Hee Haw spinoff.”

Progressing further in her career, she started making appearances on television for Carnival Cruise Lines’ advertisements and commercials in 1984. A year later, Gifford joined WABC-TV and was assigned to the show The Morning Show as the show’s co-host alongside Regis Philbin. She showed her dedication and loyalty by consistently performing and remaining on the show for one and a half decade (1985-2000).

After distinguishing herself as a talented and confident television presenter, she was invited on many popular shows as a guest from 2000. Along with this, she also began writing and contributing to different musical theatres.

Gifford has also appeared on many movies and television series after she left The Morning Show. In 2005, she was hired by The Insider as their correspondent and worked there until 2008. She often appears on the popular NBC show Today.
