John King: Birth, Early Life, Education, Relationships
John King celebrates his birthday on the 30th of August and was born in Boston, Massachusetts in the United States of America in 1963 in a family descended from an Irish heritage.
For his early education, King was sent to attend the Boston Latin School and in order pursue higher education, he went on to study at the University of Rhode Island. He graduated from the College of Arts and Sciences by receiving a Bachelor’s degree in the subject that he was most passionate about – Journalism.
King tied the marital knot with Jean Makie and has two beautiful children with her. Unfortunately their marriage didn’t last long which led to King marrying a second time on the 25th of May in 2008; this time with Dana Bash, his co-worker from CNN. Bash and King were blessed with Johan, their son, in the June of 2011. However, even this marriage lasted only until the March of 2012.
John King: Professional Life
King was very conscious and enthusiastic about his career in journalism from an early age. He started out as a writer after was hired at the Associated Press in 1985.
After around six years of hard work, loyalty and dedication, he was promoted to the position of chief political correspondent at the station and was assigned to lead the 1992 and 1996 presidential elections coverage team. He was honored by Associated Press Managing Editors’ Association with the most prestigious prize for reporting.
After a fruitful and successful career at Associated Press, King departed from the station in order to join CNN to work as the station’s correspondent for the White House for over six years (1999-2005). He progressed rapidly in his career at CNN as well and rose up to handle the responsibility of the chief national correspondent at CNN. King is also working at Inside Politics, a news program aired on Sunday mornings, as the anchor and occasionally makes appearances on other popular news shows including Anderson Copper 360 and The Situation Room.
Later in 2009, a few days before the US presidential inauguration, King was hired to host State of the Union, a talk show which replaced the show Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer on CNN. He left the show after announcing it on the 31st of January in 2010. King has also served as the moderation on the Republican Presidential debate on the January of 2012.
