Jamie Gangel, white American, was born in 1955 to Richard I. Gangel and Phyllis Gangel –Jacob. She spent her childhood days in New York City where she got education. Unfortunately, her parents divorced after eleven months of her birth so she was raised by single women. Her mother was Jewish so she was raised in Jewish faith
She went to Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service in 1977. She graduated with B.S. degree. Then she went to Harvard University in 1976 where she studied international economics.
Gangel married Daniel Silva, New York Times bestselling author. They are blessed with two children, Lily and Nicholas. Currently, the family resides in Florida.
Her actual birthdate is still missing and she is in early sixties.
Professional life
Gangel initiated her career as an assignment editor for WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C. in 1978. She worked for all-news radio station WTOP-AM, the CBS affiliate in Washington, at the same time. In the year 1982, she started working for WPL-G TV in Miami, Florida as a general assignment reporter and substitute anchor.
She switched to NBC News in 1983 where she worked for thirty-one years. In 2015 she left NBC to join CNN. In CNN she worked as a special correspondent where she has done various outstanding works like interviewing George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and first reporting the September 11 attacks.
