Hoda Kotb : Personal Life
Hoda Kotb, who celebrates her birthday on the 9th of August, was born in 1964 in Norman, Oklahoma as the daughter of Abdel Kader Kotb, a Fossil Energy Specialist listed in the Who’s Who of Technology and Sameha, a librarian at the Library of Congress.
She spent her childhood in Morgantown, West Virginia and Alexandria, Virginia. She has also lived in New Orleans, Louisiana during the ‘90s. According to Kotb, her parents are originally from Egypt and that her family lived there for over a year. She has two siblings, a brother Adel and a sister, Hala.
For her education, she went to the Fort Hunt High School and was even elected as the high school homecoming queen. She was selected to deliver a speech to her class’s Baccalaureate service. She went to college at Virginia Tech, and became a member of Delta Delta Delta Women’s Sorority, Beta Nu Chapter.
She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism (B.A.) and graduated in 1986. She was elected on the Virginia Tech Alumni Association Board of Directors in 2010.
Kotb tied the knot with a tennis coach from the University of New Orleans, Burzis Kanga. Unfortunately, the couple only lasted until 2008 when they divorced and separated. Because she also suffered from Breast cancer, she has undergone mastectomy and reconstructive surgery.
She is currently in a relationship with Joel Schiffman, a New York financier and the couple adopted a baby girl Haley Joy Kotb in the February of 2017.

Kotb started her professional life with an on-air job at WXVT in Greenville, Mississippi and later became the anchor and reporter for WWL-TV in New Orleans, Lousiana for six years (1992 to 1998). She has co-hosted the Today Show and became Dateline NBC’s correspondent in 1998.
She usually fills in for Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer on Today. She was promoted to a third co-anchor on Today in the March of 2017. Following the sexual allegations and firing of Laurer, Kotb became an interim co-host for the show and was officially name as the show’s co-host on January 2nd, 2018.
She has published her New York Times Bestseller autobiography Hoda: How I Survived War Zones, Bad Hair, Cancer, and Kathie Lee in the October of 2010.
Kotb received a Daytime Emmy Award with the Today Show in 2010. Later in 2013, she published her second book Ten Years Later: Six People Who Faced Adversity and Transformed Their Lives.
She has made appearances on a music video “I’m Gonna Love You Through It.”
Kotb’s third book, Where They Belong: The Best Decisions People Almost Never Made, was released in 2016 and has inspired thousands of people to “find themselves” since then.
