Chris Fischer:WIKI and BIO
Chris Fischer was born in 1980( age-38) in Chilmark, Massachusetts, United States. He spent most of his childhood at the Chilmark Community Center. After pouring years of sweat and blood on other people’s land, his grandfather had purchased the Beetlebung farm in 1961.
He practically grew up in the farm, which later became a central part of his book. He went to school in a police station, which used to be a two-room schoolhouse, in a building 20 feet away from the Chilmark Store. Fischer, like his family, is a Vineyard native.
He gained his culinary skills in Babbo’s bustling kitchen. He later moved to New York City and worked under famous chef Mario Batali. Later, Fischer also did some stint cooking in Europe.
Years before this he had already started writing a column a column for the Vineyard Gazette. When he was working as the chef at the Beach Plum Inn in Menemsha, he met his co-author, Catherine Young, who had written cookbooks before meeting Fischer. She helped him managing and organizing recipes and putting them into Fischer’s book. He has also extended his hands on the restaurant sector.
Later he was able to publish his book “The Beetlebung Farm Cookbook: A Year of Cooking on Martha’s Vineyard” which became acknowledged as a great guide for beginners by chefs all over the world. He has also won the James Beard Award for American Cooking.
