Campbell Brown : Personal Life
Alma Dale Campbell Brown, aka Campbell Brown, was born on the 14th of June, 1968 in Ferriday, Louisiana, United States as the daughter of James H. Brown Jr., a former Louisiana Democratic State Senator and Secretary of the State and his wife Dale Campbell. She was named after her maternal grandmother Alma Dale.
She grew up as a Roman Catholic with her two sisters in Ferriday. She went to the Trinity Episcopal Day School. As a teenager, Brown was permanently rusticated from the Madeira School for sneaking off campus to go to a party. For higher education, she went to Louisiana State University and later graduated from Regis University.
Brown tied the marital knot with a former chief spokesperson for the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq, Daniel Samuel Senor on April 2nd, 2006. The couple had met back in the March of 2004 in Iraq when Brown was one of the journalists covering the news conferences where Senor was a spokesman for the Coalition Provisional Authority. Before this, Brown had already been married to a real estate broker, but they had been divorced.
The couple was blessed with their first child, a son Eli James Senor, on the 18th of December 2007. Later on the 6th of April on 2009, Brown gave birth to her second son Asher Liam Senor.
Campbell Brown : Professional Life
Brown began her professional life as a reporter for KSNT-TV, an NBC affiliate in Topeka, Kansas and later moved to WWBT-TV, another NBV affiliate, in Richmond, Virginia. She also did reporting jobs for WBAL-TV, Baltimore, Maryland and WRC-TV in Washington, D.C.
In 1996, she was hired by NBC News and had been placed at The Pentagon. She covered the Kosovo war and became the White House Correspondent for NBC News before joining Weekend Today.
Brown managed to provide coverage for the Presidential Elections 2000.
After a great run at NBC, she moved to CNN in the February of 2008. She started working as an anchor for CNN Election Center, which was renamed Campbell: No Bias, No Bull in October. After returning from her maternity leave in June 2009, the show’s name was adjusted to simply Campbell Brown.
Due to low TRP on her shows, CNN had to let Brown go. So Brown announced her departure from CNN on May 18, 2010.
After a heart-breaking leave from CNN, Brown started writing opinion pieces for publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Daily Beast, and Slate. Brown wrote an article against President Obama in May 2012 about how “patronizing” his “fake praise” to women actually sounds.
Facebook hired Brown to lead the company’s news partnerships team in the January of 2017.
Brown has been politically active as well. She founded the Parents Transparency Project in June 2013 for an education reform. Her project’s aim was to stand on behalf of parents who want accountability and unhindered information from the teachers. Her team worked alongside New York Daily News and investigated and reported on school employees with allegations of sexual misconduct with children.
Later in June of 2014, Brown also founded Partnership for Educational Justice, a non-profit that seeks to assist students, families and communities advocates for a public school reform. A year later in July of 2015, she also co-founded The 74, another non-profit, non partisan news site that covers the situation of education in America.
Brown has received an Emmy Award for her work in the coverage of Hurricane Katrine as a part of NBC’s team.
