Beth Mowins

Mowins, who celebrates her birthday on the 26th of May, was born in Syracuse, New York in the United States of America in 1967. She spent her childhood with her father, who was a basketball coach, and mother who was a big follower of ice hockey and grew up her 3 siblings – all brothers.

For her early education, she attended the North Syracuse High School located at North Syracuse, New York. Mowins was a genius in sports from an early age and played softball, basketball and soccer for the school team. Her skills in the sport of basketball led her to qualify as the varsity team captain at Lafayette College at Easton, Pennsylvania and she led the team for two game seasons.

Mowins graduated with a Bachelor in Arts (B.A.) degree from college in 1989 and later pursued higher education by attending Syracuse University, eventually graduating by earning a Master’s degree.

Mowins currently resides in Saginaw, Michigan.

Beth Mowins took the first steps in her journalism career from WXHC-FM Radio stationed at Homer, New York, where she got the job of a news and sports director in 1991. Mowins is honored as an inductee in the Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame of 2009.

Later in the May of 2017, Richard Deitsch from Sports Illustrated reported Mowins as ESPN’s Monday Night Football’s play-by-play announcer. It was a late broadcast in the opening week and a match between the Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos was going on.

Mowins stepped up to the challenge-cum-opportunity and went on to achieve the milestone of becoming the first woman on national television to call a NFL game in the September of 2017. Not only that, but Mowins also became the second woman to become the play-by-play announcer on NFL’s history.

Her name will also written on the history books of NFL on CBS as the first woman to be the play-by-play announcer on the network from the Cleveland Browns-Indianapolis Colts match, as called by Mowins herself.

She has made guest appearances in different shows and events which have also brought her to the limelight. Besides, she is also part of different organizations and events.
