Anderson Cooper: Birth, Early Life, Family
Anderson Hays Copper came into this world on the 3rd of June in Manhattan, New York City, New York in the United States of America in 1967 as the son of Gloria Vanderbilt and Wyatt Emory Copper.
His father was a writer and his mother was an heiress, fashion designer, writer, and artist. Cooper had an older sibling, Carter Vanderbilt Cooper, who was his older brother. Unfortunately, Carter committed suicide on the 22nd of July in 1988 Leopold Stanislaus Stokowski and Christopher Stokowski are Coopers older half-siblings.
For his education, Cooper was sent to attend a private preparatory co-educational day school, Dalton School in New York City. He was astonishingly impressive in academics from an early age because of which he graduated from school a semester earlier than other and utilized that time to explore Africa.
Recognizing his potential, Cooper was offered admission at the prestigious Yale University and he graduated from college with a Bachelor in Arts degree in Political Science in 1989
Regarding Cooper’s relationships, he has announced himself to be gay. Consequently, he was named as “the most prominent openly gay journalist on American television” by The New York Times.
Anderson Cooper: Professional Career
Cooper had already begun his professional career when he was still in college from Central Intelligence Agency as an intern. He struggled to find a satisfactory job after graduating from college since he wanted an on-air job. He began working on his own segments independently and was finally able to sell them to Channel One.
After gaining a lot of experience after working with Channel One, He moved on to join ABC News as the station’s correspondent in 1995. He quickly rose to handle the responsibility of co-anchor and was assigned to work on the show World News Now. Shifting his career focus, he began hosting the show The Mole on ABC in 2000.
Only after a year of working as the host of The Mole, he departed from ABC and joined CNN, where he began working on the show American Morning with Paula Zahn by his side. He progressed rapidly becoming a prime-time weekend anchor on CNN in 2002.
Cooper officially started anchoring on the show Anderson Cooper 360° from the 8th of September of 2003 and did a lot of praiseworthy coverage on major stories in 2005 that include the Sri Lanka tsunami damage, the death of Pope John Paul II, Prince Charles’ wedding with Camilla Parker Bowles. He also covered Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath along with CNN in 2005.
Cooper was chosen to host CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute in 2007 and in the October of the same year, he hosted Planet in Peril, a documentary, alongside Sanjay Gupta and Jeff Corwin.
Cooper served as the moderator on the 2016 presidential election debate and has been working on CBS News as the station’s correspondent.
