Personal Life
Ahed Tamimi was born in Nabi Salih, a small village in the West Bank on 30th March, 2001. Her family, along with other villagers, has been involved in many conflicts over the years with the Israeli settlements near their village for land rights.
The residents of Nabi Salih have fought over and over for a spring and irrigation source, locally called Ein al-Qawsby, which, according to them, right fully belonged to the Tamimi family for generations but was taken over by the Halamish settlers. Under the conditions of occupation of the land, Tamimi grew up as the second generation of the Palestinian children there.
Reportedly, she once stated that she wanted to become a lawyer. She was relocated to Ramallah to her relative’s home for her secondary location, as she was a target of harassment for the Israeli soldiers en route from Nabi Salih to Ramallah, where her school was located. Tamimi had a gruesome childhood due to the numerous amounts of military raids on her home that she had to endure.
News and Updates
The trial for the Palestinian teenager, who was arrested in December, has been postponed for the second time because, according to Ahed Tamimi’s attorney, Gaby Lasky, the military wasn’t able to find enough evidence in time.
The teenager, who spent her 17th birthday in prison, has to wait again until February 13th to enter the court. The Palestinian heroine, accused of assaulting the Israeli soldiers and embarrassing the Israeli army, has stated that she is ready to do anything to liberate Palestine from the clutches of Israel.
These words have turned her into a revolutionary icon among her fellow villagers and the entire Palestinian population.
