According to her wiki page, she was a waitress at Red Lobster, however, she got fired for her rude behavior. Before that, she was fired for same resound at least fifteen times. She even was the part of Wall Street business as an office manager.
She signed with a group named 'Full Force where she rapped for 'The HoodStars'. Later Nicki recorded the entrance song for the WWE Diva Victoria which was 'Don't Mess With' featuring ThemeAddict: WWE The Music, Vol. 6. Minaj left the group and began pursuing a solo career by uploading her several works on her Myspace profile, which apparently might be a big hint to the music industry. Her big break came in 2007 when CEO of Brooklyn label Dirty Money Entertainment Fendi signed her for a contract.
On July 5, 2007, she unleashed her debut mixtape ‘Playtime Is Over’. Following it Minaj second ‘Sucka Free’ was released on April 12, 2008, whereas her third mixtape ‘Beam Me Up Scotty’ was dropped in 2009. Her subsequent successful mixtapes introduced her to fellow rapper Lil Wayne and she ended up signing a record label with his Young Money Entertainment. Her first work as a part of a label was with Trina and Gucci Mane in the remix version of Yo Gotti ‘5 Star Bitch’. She also performed ‘Roger That’ and ‘Bed Rock’ in the compilation album We Are Young Money. Minaj next was a feature on Mariah Carey’s ‘Up Out My Face’ which successfully managed to get a place in Billboard Hot 100. She was also featured on Robin Thicke “Shakin’It 4 Daddy on the recommendation of Jay-Z.
On March 29, 2010, she released her most anticipated single ‘Massive Attack’ from her forthcoming album. A lot of speculation went around regarding her single after a commercial appearance and to put a brake on it, she released single ‘Your Love’ on June 1. Later the month she titled her album Pink Friday on the occasion of ‘Black Friday’. In the following month, Minaj released her follow-up singles ‘Right Thru Me’ and ‘Check It Out’. In April 2011, she released her fifth Single ‘Super Bass’ from the album. Minaj also featured on the Britney Spears ‘Till the World Ends’ along with Keisha. Her second studio album ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded was released in April 2012. She further went on to release a promotional work ‘Roman in Moscow’ and ‘Stupid Hoe’ to promote her album.
Her Starships released in February 2012 was one of the best-selling singles of all time. Later the year Clive Tanaka, a Chicago based artist sued her for copyright. A short time after, she dropped her singles ‘Beez in the Trap’ and ‘Right by My Side’. The catchy lyrics and a mix of hip hop songs were able to catch the interest of the audiences. Minaj took the singles ‘Pound the Alarm’ and ‘Va Va Voom’ to wrap up the album. On May 2012, she started her first concert tour titled ‘Pink Friday Tour’ and make an amazing move by promoting ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ on its way.
She initially wanted to become an actress and to her surprise, she was cast to lend her voice to Steffie in the 2012 animated movie ‘Ice Age: Continental Drift’. On November 19, 2012, she released ‘The Re-Up’ from her second studio album. And in between the work, she declared her plans on starting own record label. In September, Minaj was hired as a judge for the 2oth season of ‘American Idol’ alongside Randy Jackson, Keith Urban and Mariah Carey. In one of the auditions in Charlotte, Carey and Minaj were involved in not so good argument. Carey reportedly told that Minaj threatened her to kill and for the safety, she hired an extra security on the sets of ‘American Idol’.
Her popularity once again stood up from the crowd when Nick Cassavetes comedy film ‘The Other Woman’ where Minaj had a part of role became a huge hit. Minaj described that her up-and-coming third album ‘The Pinkprint’ was different than the rest of her album and it was, her single ‘Pills n Potions’ released in May 2014 was a smash hit. The follow-up was ‘Anaconda’ which reached no. 2 in Billboard Hot 100 and her highest single in US chart till date. On November 9, 2014, Minaj graced the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards with her presence and bang on hosting at The SSE Hydro, Glasgow, Scotland. Shortly later she went on her third concert tour titled ‘The Pinkprint Tour’.
In May 2015, she appeared as Draya in Malcolm D. Lee comedy film ‘Barbershop: The Next Cut’. Minaj featured and co-wrote the Jason Derulo’s Swalla in February 2017. Later the month, she signed a modeling contract with Wilhelmina Models, a modeling agency.
