Leslie Moonves: Personal Life
Leslie Moonves was born on 6th October 1949. He is a native of New York City, New York, US. As a child, he was named as Leslie Roy Moonves. He is the son of Jewish parents, Josephine and Herman Moonves. He was raised up in Valley Stream, New York.
He went to Valley Stream Central High School from where he completed his schooling. He then went on to join the Bucknell University and from there, he got graduated in the year 1971. While he was in his sophomore year, Moonves switched his major to Spanish from pre-med and acted in few plays.
After graduation, he shifted to Manhattan to try his hands in a career as an actor. However, after playing a few unremarkable roles in television, he decided that he would pursue a career in the field of business instead.
Leslie Moonves: Professional Life
Early in his business career, Moonves had experience in management. He worked at the 20th Century Fox Television as the in-charge of the first-run syndicated and pay/cable programming. He then held the position of Vice President of the movies as well as mini-series.
In the year 1985, he joined the Lorimar Television as an executive-in-charge of its mini-series and movies. After three years, he became the head of creative affairs. He also became the President at Lorimar from 1989 till 1993. While that time, Moonves green-lighted his shows “Friends and RE” among many other shows.
Later in July of the year 1995, he moved to CBS as a president of the CBS Entertainment. He became the president as well as the executive officer in April 1998. He remained in the position till 2003 and then he was promoted to the chairman and the CEO of the CBS. In addition to that, he was also elected to the CBS Corporation Board of Directors in July of 1999.
Moonves’s tasks includes overseeing the operation of company that includes CBS Television Studios, CBS Interactive, CBS Radio, CBS Films, The CW, Showtime, CBS Television Network, CBS Records, CBS Home Entertainment, Simon & Schuster, CBS Outernet, CBS Interactive CBS Television Distributor, CBS Television Stations, and CBS Consumer Products. He was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in the year 2013.
Leslie Moonves: Marriage and Family Life
Moonves has married twice. At first, he married Nancy Wiesenfeld on 17th December of 1978. He has three children with Wiesenfeld. Wiesenfeld filed for divorce in April of 2003 in Los Angeles Superior Court citing irreconcilable difference.
Although the divorce was not finalized, Moonves engaged in a relationship with Julie Chen, a television and news personality. At that time, Wiesenfeld was the reporter of “The Early Show” on CBS. Later Moonves and his ex-wife Wiesenfeld finally got divorced in 2004.
Just after the 13 days of their divorce, Moonves married Julie Chen in Mexico. Later, Chen gave birth to their first child, a son named Charlie on 24th September 2009.

Currently, Moonves is residing in Beverly Hills in a house that he bought from a former co-worker, Andrew Heyward. Besides that, he also has a residence in New York City as well as in Malibu.
Apart from that, he is now at the age of 65 and his net worth is estimated as $300 million and he takes home a decent salary from his work.
