Jodi Applegate

Jodi,53, was born on 2nd May 1964, as Jodi Applegate in Wheeling, West Virginia. She spent her childhood in Moon Township, Pennsylvania with her family.

She went to Moon Area High School and later she completed her high school from Temple University in Philadelphia. Later she transferred to New York University as a sophomore, from where she graduated with a degree in television and film.

She married her husband Michael Kay in 2011 who is also a television broadcaster. They arranged a small wedding which was limited to few close relatives and friends; the ceremony took place at the Plaza Hotel.

A year after their marriage they announced that they were blessed with a child. However, Jodi did not get pregnant herself. Instead they had surrogated mother to deliver their child. On 5th January, they welcomed a baby girl whom they named Caledonia Rose.

After she had completed her studies, she began working as an actress in the television shows. She was seen in the television version of A Pocket for Corduroy in 1986, and There's Nightmare in My Closet in 1987.

In the early 1990s, she joined as the host for the program Close Up on C-Span. Later she collaborated with KTVK in Phoenix hosting the show Good Morning Arizona.  She then served at Metro traffic as a radio and television traffic reporter in San Francisco.

In 1996, Applegate was the first face seen on MSNBC at its launch. She anchored MSNBC Live and Weekend Today on the main NBC network. She also worked as a substitute host on the Today show. In 1999, she hosted Later Today with Florence Henderson and Asha Blake. 

Then she joined WFXT channel were she was appointed to host Fox 25 Morning News and FOX 25 News. Then she worked with WNXW starting from October 2004.
