He donated the 10 percent of his winnings to the City of Hope for supporting the pediatric cancer research. After becoming a winner of the Triple Crown, Victor announced that he would be donating the 100 percent of his Belmont Stakes earnings to the City of Hope. Victor did not speak the English language when he moved to the United States in the year 1990. After a couple of years, he then moved to Northern California wherein 1994, he was leading apprentice rider at Bay Meadows as well as Golden Gate Fields race tracks. During his career, he had been described as the hard-working kid who was out there every day… but he kept getting better and better and soon people began seeing the talent which he got. After a year, he again moved to Los Angeles and he had his big break in 2000 when he became the winner of Breeders’ Cup Distaff aboard Spain. The following year, he rode his first Kentucky Derby in which he was placed at third on Congaree and in 2002, he won both Kentucky Derby as well as Preakness Stakes atop War Emblem. Recently, it was announced on 25th August of the year 2015 that Victor would be one of the competitors on the 21st season of the TV show known as Dancing with the Stars in which he will dance and is paired with the professional dancer Karina Smirnoff.
