Simon Cowell was born on 7 October 1959. He is the native of Lambeth, London, England and was brought up in the Elstree, Hertfordshire. His father is Eric Selig Phillip Cowell Sr. and mother is Julie Bret. As per his wiki page, the father of Simon Cowell worked as an estate agent developer and was also involved in the music industry as an executive. His mother is a former ballet dancer and the socialite. Simon Cowell is the oldest of his siblings in his family; he has a younger brother Nicholas Cowell, three half brothers Tony, John and Michael Cowell. Simon also has one-half sister June Cowell.
Simon was a student at the Radlett Preparatory School. After the completion of his school, he joined Dover College but he left taking the GCE O-levels and got studied English Language and Literature. Later he got enrolled to get another GCE in Sociology at the Windsor Technical College.
Simon till now has been linked to many celebrities. Currently, he is engaged with longtime girlfriend Lauren Silverman. This couple also has a son named Eric Cowell. Their son was born in 2013. They started their relationship when Lauren was married to Andrew Silverman. Simon Cowell first worked at EMI Music Publishing, however, he left EMI in 1993. He ended up establishing Fanfare Records which produced exercise videos and music, he was the co-partner of Iain Burton. He got hit by success when his first song So Macho by Sinitta in 1986 became popular. Contrary to that the music company faced a huge loss, in 1989, which almost led Simon being bankrupt. That was when Simon decided to get a job at BMG as an A&R consultant.
Slowly and steady he gear up the courage to start getting back to the music business and created novelty records for Power Rangers, Zig and Zag and World Wrestling Federation. He then signed two actors Robson Green and Jerome Flynn and record song 'Unchained Melody' which later became the best selling single in 1995. The self-titled album was released later which also became the best-selling album. Simon made millions after they again released more albums and two singles.
Simon career as a judge started in the first part of Pop Idol in 2001. The following year he was seen in the judging panel of the American Idol. He again formed a new company named Syco which was divided into three units – Syco Music, Syco TV, and Syco Film. After facing many controversies being in American Idol he exited from the show in January of 2010. He was also seen in another show 'The X Factor' in 2004. There he signed Leona Lewis who the winner of the third series of the show. He left the show however returned for the 6th and 7th season.
