Personal Life
Born on September 3rd, 1986 in San Diego, California, Shaun White quickly picked up on snowboarding and skateboarding at an early age. According to him, the first time he snowboarded was when he tried to imitate his older brother Jesse, not knowing that he has a knack for the sport.
White had endured two open-heart surgeries as an infant due to his congenital heart defect, also known as a Tetralogy of Fallot. After he discovered his passion for snowboarding, he started going on the three-hour trek to the San Bernardino Mountains at every opportunity he got with his family.
Professional Life
With his natural-born talent and unbreakable determination, White became a pro at snowboarding at the age of 13 and at 16 he had already won the US Open, becoming the youngest snowboarder in history to lift the cup.
With his limitless talent, he was able to become a pro at skateboarding as well just at the age of 17 and had begun riding for Tony Hawk’s Birdhouse Skateboards. He won his first Olympic gold medal when he was 19 years old. White has competed in four Winter Olympics in his career.
He came in first, winning gold, in the 2006, 2010 and 2018 Winter Olympics in the snowboard halfpipe event. He also has an outstanding record in the Winter X Games, where he has won a medal every year since 2002, winning 18 medals (13 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze) in total until now.
Amidst these incredible triumphs, he also became the first athlete to achieve a quadruple win streak in one discipline, the snowboard slopestyle. His winning streak was broken when he finished third, losing to Andreas Wiig and Teddy Flandreau.
Unfortunately, while training in New Zealand for the 2018 Winter Olympics, he crashed into the edge of a superpipe and sustained multiple injuries in his face, having to get 62 stitches. But this accident alone was not able to stop White from qualifying in the 2018 US Olympic Team. And blowing away all barriers, he won his third gold medal on February 14 with a score of 97.75 in Men’s Halfpipe event.
Shaun, aside from an outstanding sportsman, is interested in other activities as well. He made a celebrity cameo appearance as himself in the 2011 movie Friends with Benefits, the 2013 episode Da Flippity Flop of animated TV series American Dad! along with the 2014 Disney Channel Original Movie Cloud 9.
White is also a musician in the electronic rock band Bad Things, where he plays guitar.

News and Updates
Back in 2016 in an interview, when asked about the sexual harassment allegations that were hanging by his name, Shaun White cast the questions aside by stating: “I am here to talk about the Olympics, not gossip.” But White has recently apologized about ignoring those questions and using words such as gossip.
He provided a statement to the New York Times, saying: “I regret my behavior of many years ago and am sorry that I made anyone – particularly someone I considered a friend – uncomfortable.”
When asked if he is worried that this “gossip” might leave a dent on his sports legacy, he simply replied, “I don’t think so. I am who I am, and I’m proud of who I am.” He is approximately assumed to have a net worth of $20 to $40 million.
