A former NASCAR correspondent Shannon Spake is currently a college football and basketball reporter for the ESPN. She contributes to SportsCenter for giving pre and post games reports. In addition to that, she also works as sideline reporter for SEC on ESPN Basketball games and the college football games. As of the year 2014, Shannon also works for newly created SEC Network that is owned by ESPN. Previous to coming in ESPN, she used to work at Speed Channel where she was the co-host of NASCAR Nation in its 2nd version and she was also a reporter in its first. Shannon was also the co-host of Back Seat Drivers which was a talk show with online columnist Marty Smith. Spake’s previous on-air jobs also included those at the WCCB in North Carolina, Charlotte, and Carolina Sports and Entertainment Television.
Shannon was a NASCAR pit reporter from 2007 till 2014 for the network and she also contributed to both the NASCAR Countdown and The NASCAR Now. For 2008 season, she was a full time pit reporter for nationwide and sprint cup races that aired on ESPN. She then continued her role until the ESPN lost broadcast rights to NBC Sports in beginning with 2015 season. On 13th August 2013, she agreed to multi year contract extension with ESPN. Before being on-air reporter, she used to work for Nickelodeon, CBS and MTV as the production assistant.
