Ravi Bopara was born on May 4, 1985, in Forest Gate, London, England. He was from a Sikh family. His parents were deeply rooted in Punjab, India and they moved to England in 1970s. After Monty Panesar, Bopara is the second Sikh to play for England.
Bopara attended Brampton Manor School, East Ham and Barking Abbey School for his initial academic study. He then went to Frenford Clubs, where he represented Essex Girls and Boys Clubs.

Ravi Bopara: Career and Professional Life
Ravi Bopara made his cricket debut for Essex in May 2002. Later that year, he played numerous games for England including U-19 World Cup in 2004. On January 2, 2007, Bopara made his first ODI debut as a substitute player for Kevin Peterson after Peterson was out of the match following his rib injury. He must have quietly impressed the England selector through his outstanding performance that they immediately got him a spot in England squad for 2007 World Cup. He was unimaginable while playing against Sri Lanka, his score for 52 off 53 balls made him the man of the match of the game. He also formed an England World Cup record by forming a great partnership for the seventh wicket.
In the limited over series played against India, Bopara seemed incompetent for the first three games. In the fourth game, he came in his real form and batted really well, and even gained a confidence of his partner Stuart Board. Their unbeatable pair hit the board with 99 runs for the 8th wicket at Old Trafford. Unfortunately, he couldn’t keep up his winning form and in next match, he merely scored 11.

In 2012, Bopara attacked Pakistan with both bat and ball in the ODI series against the team. He also helped his team to lead a convincing victory in the series against West Indies. When he missed out T20 series with New Zealand, a lot of them speculated that his cricketing career is almost over. But in 2013, he made his comeback on the squad and this time it was for Champions trophy. He led England to a victory against Australia with his 46 not out. He made a contribution in each game he played and took England to the final of the tournament. In final, Bopara’s 3-20 and 30 runs was split with water after England lost a close match against India. His fabulous performance in Champions Trophy was enough to keep him in England’s team for the ODI series against New Zealand. Bopara never performed in the Ashes series but he has played two T20 Internationals in his career.
In the T20 World Cup held in 2014, Bopara had an on and off performance throughout the tournament. Although England couldn’t lift the trophy, Bopara emerged as a rising star which made him one of England’s stand out performers. Bopara had a worst nightmare performing in the Tri series against Australia and India. Although England had a plenty of victory against India, they couldn’t play well against Australia. He also didn’t play in the World Cup until the final match against Afghanistan. In 2015 IPL auction, Bopara was picked up by SunRisers Hyderabad. He was also delighted to be a part of Kings XI Punjab squad in Indian Premier League. In February 2016, Bopara played for Karachi Kings in Pakistan Super League.
