Pat McGrath is an English Make-up artist. She is the global creative design director for Procter and Gamble. She is in charge for major brands like Max Factor and Cover Girl. She founded Pat McGrath Labs, her own make-up line. She was named an MBE, Member of the Order of the British Empire, for service to the fashion and beauty industry.

She was born in Northampton, England on 11 June 1970. She was raised by her single mother Jean McGrath, a Jamaican immigrant, with her older sister Faith. She has never had any formal training in fashion and makes up other than an art foundation course at Northampton College. Her greatest influence was her mother as she was a lover of makeup and fashion as well. Her mother used to comment on clothes as the family of three watched classic movies.

She experienced her career breakthrough in the early 1990s when she was working with Edward Enninful (fashion editor of the i-D magazine). Her innovative use of colors had a hand in getting it to a position of international importance. Since then she has worked with photographers like Paolo Roversi, Helmut Newton, and Peter Lindbergh. Photographer Steven Meisel is so fond of her that he rarely works without her.

She has also worked with elite brands like Dolce and Gabbana, Prada and Mui Mui. She is known for her inventive use of material. Her works have been published in most of the well-known magazines like American, English, French edition of Vogue, W and Harper’s Bazaar. She attends four fashion show seasons each year. She constantly travels from one work location to other where she takes thirty to fifty bags of materials, tools and reference materials.

She enlarged her career by starting up her very own makeup line, Pat McGrath Labs. Her first product was Gold 001, an eye shadow kit. It had a gold eyeshadow pigment, a container, a spatula and mixing gel. The second in the line was Phantom 002 another eyeshadow kit. Skin fetish 003, Lust 004, Metalmorphosis and dark star are sets of highlighter, lipstick, marker and pigments, and eye shadows respectively.

Her products were initially available only on her website now it’s also available on sephora. The limited quantity, sequence packaging and mystical advertizing sets her product apart from the mainstream. Her net worth is $2 million.
