Personal and Family Life

Oliver Sykes was born on 20 November 1986, in Ashford, Kent, England to Carol Sykes and Ian Sykes. When his parents moved to Australia, Sykes too joined them and tried out to adjust in Adelaide and Perth for about six years until they moved back to the home country and settled there enduringly.

To collect his high school degree, Sykes joined Stockbridge High School in South Yorkshire, England. Ever since Sykes was 12, he suffered from a sleeping disorder commonly known as sleep paralysis. He stands tall at a height of 6feet and 1inche and that short hair compliments the shape of his face.

Sykes is a married man. On July 12, 2015, he exchanged the holy vows with tattoo artist Hannah Pixie Snowdown in Tuscany, Italy. Pixie is a tremendously talented Doodler. When everyone was convinced that they were the match made in heaven, then something awful happened.

Sykes reportedly accused that his wife cheated on him and they were having a very hard relationship. The allegation, however, has been denied by Pixie. In 2016, the couple announced their separation and there are no signs of them getting back together.

Career and Professional Life

Oliver Sykes was interested in the music since the time in high school and started creating a compilation of soundtracks and CDs under the name Quakebeat to further sharpen his music career. The passion and madness for the music drive him to form the band ‘Bring Me the Horizon’ in 2004 which was his resplendent entry into English music scene. It took the band entire two years to release their debut album ‘Count Your Blessings’ which was dropped in 2006. The next two years the band was calm as breeze yet did not spread interest in forming the solo career. On September 29, 2008, they released their second studio album ‘Suicide Season’ and subsequently unleashed the third album ‘There is a Hell. Believe Me, I’ve Seen It. There is a Heaven, Let’s Keep It a Secret’ on October 4, 2010.

After a long break from music, the rock band came with a new member Jordan Fish and a new studio album ‘Sempiternal’ on 1st April 2013. Fish was Sykes co-partner who played guitar with him on the album. On September 11, 2015, the band released their latest ‘That’s the Spirit’ which was a smashing hit and reached no.2 in U.K. Albums Chart.

Apart from his own studio album and songs, Sykes has also featured in songs for rock band You Me at Six’s ‘Bite My Tongue', American rock band A Day to Remember’s ‘All I Want’ and Architects ‘Even If You Win’. He also featured as a guest vocalist in metal core band While She Sleeps’s ‘Silence Speaks’. He too performed for artists like Charlie XCX, Charlie Puth, Stormzy and Denzel Curry. Sykes has established a Kickstarter project to fund a graphic novel on February 1, 2013.

In his glorious career, Sykes has added numerous controversies. While he was on a tour with Architects, he was involved in a fight with band lead singer Sam Carter. Although they both later claimed that it was merely a publicity stunt and they were in very good terms but Sykes was in the news for all the negative reasons. His next controversy was with the parents of 12-year old girl who got severely injured in the mosh pit during the band’s performance and they later went on to sue Sykes and the whole band.
