Michael Oher was born on May 28, 1986, in Memphis, Tennessee, US as one of the twelveth children to Denise Oher. He grew up in various foster houses at a small age of 7, as his father Michael Jerome Williams was repeatedly in prison and his mother was a serious drug addict. His father was killed in prison while he was in high school. Because of such disturbed family Oher had to attend 11 different schools in his first 9 years of school study. Oher attended the University of Mississippi from which he graduated with a degree in criminal justice in 2009.

Michael Oher had a squabble with an Uber driver in Nashville, Tennessee on April 14, 2017. Reportedly, the driver thrust his hands on Oher face to which he responded by Kicking and pushing the driver. He was suspected of having alcohol during the incident and was asked to summon in the court, as his parents had a criminal record.
Career and Professional Life
Michael Oher application to Briarcrest Christian School was accepted by Hugh Freeze, a school football coach, on a condition that he will complete his school program first.
In 2003, he was named as Division II (2A) Lineman of the Year under the supervision of Tim Long and Freeze. While playing for Briarcrest, Oher was adopted by a couple Sean Tuohy and Leigh Anne who had come to watch the game.
Michael Oher received multiple scholarship offers including Louisiana State, Tennessee, South Carolina and Alabama but he eventually chooses Coach Ed Orgeron at the University of Mississippi to shape his career. He then planned to play for Ole Miss Rebels football, following which National Collegiate Athletic Association disqualified him based on his GPA and relationship of Sean Tuohys’ with the school.
For the first ten games with Ole Miss Rebels, Oher played at a right guard position. After the sophomore season, Oher acquired second-team Southeastern Conference offensive line man after his magnificent performance as first-team SEC offensive lineman in junior season. Academically he increased his IQ score by 10 points at Ole Miss.
On January 14, 2008, Oher revoked his declaration to enter 2008 NFL Draft and joined back Ole Miss team for its senior season.
Michael Oher played for Baltimore Ravens at right tackle in 2009 NFL Draft. But when Jared Gaither was injured he moved to right tackle. With his marvelous performance in every game, Michael Oher contributed the team to reach the playoffs.
On February 3, 2013, Oher help out take the Ravens to the Super Bowl ring Trophy after defeating San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XlVII.
On March 14, 2014, Oher had a four-year contract with Tennessee Titans, but following his toe injuries he missed out several games. On February 5, 2015, Titans terminated the contract
Oher then joined Carolina Panthers on a two-year contract. He played at a left tackle in the team and was punished only three times during the whole season. He has further extended the contract with Panthers and has played three games during 2016 season.
In 2006, Michael Lewis released a book which focuses on the story of Michael Oher’s life and his struggle during the childhood titled ‘The Blind Side: Evolution of a game’ later John Lee Hancock directed the movie Blind Side, adapted from the book.
According to Stats from nfl.com, Michael Oher has won 110 games for three different teams starting 2009 to 2016.

In 2005, Michael Oher was selected for multiple honors including First Team Freshman All-American and First Team SEC All-Freshman. He was also in the race to win the Outland Trophy and Conerly Trophy in 2008.
In 2008, Oher was honored with Shug Jordan Award as the Southeast Offensive Lineman of the year and Colonel Earl ‘Red’ Blaik Leadership-Scholarship Award.
Michael Oher was placed at second for Associate Press’ NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.
