A Chief White House Correspondent with the CBS News Major Garrett is also a correspondent at Large with The National Journal. He is the native of San Diego, California, United States. He came into this world on 24th August of the year 1962 which has now made him reach at the age of 53. Although he is known by the name Major Garrett, as a child, he was named as Major Elliott Garrett. Major went to get his education from the University of Missouri and he got graduated from there in 1984 with a Bachelor of Journalism and a Bachelor of Science in the Political Science. In addition to that, he is also the member of Phi Gamma Delta.

In 1990s, Major was a senior editor and congressional correspondent for the US News & World Report. He was also a congressional reporter and anchor for the Washington Times before he joined the CNN’s White House Team in early 2000 and later Fox News in 2002 as the general assignment reporter. There, Major covered 2004 election and also served as the congressional correspondent of the network. In addition to that, Major has also been White House Correspondent for the CNN and he is also an award winning reporter across the country for The Houston Post, Amarillo Globe-News and Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The articles of Major have also been appeared in magazines such as Mother Jones, Washington Monthly, and The Weekly Standard. He also covered the presidential campaign of President Barack Obama. On 13th January of 2009, he became the Senior White House Correspondent for Fox News Channel. Later, he left the Fox News on 3rd September 2010 for joining the National Journal. His final day on the Fox News was on America Live with Megyn Kelly. In addition to that, Major is also frequently a guest commentator on the MSNBC and on CBS’s Face the Nation.

On 18th November 2012, it was announced on Face the Nation that Major would be joining the CBS News as the Chief White House Correspondent. In July of 2015, he also made a headlines when he asked Obama during the press conference that why he was content with Iran Nuclear Deal which left four Americans trapped in the Iran, four being Robert Levinson, Saeed Abedini, Jason Rezaian and Amir Mirza. Because of his dedication towards his work, Major has won several of the prestigious awards as well.

Prior to that, Major is tall at the height of five feet and ten inches. Although he has already reached at early fifties, he does his works very efficiently and effectively. There is no any official details found about his annual salary. His net worth has been estimated to be around $3 million.  He is married to his wife named Julie Kirtz but there is no any news found about when did the couple tied their knot with each other.
