An American analyst, TV host, journalist, producer, actor, and writer, Lawrence O'Donnell is known for his appearances on talk shows like The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell, The McLaughlin Group, and Morning Joe; writer and producer of The West Wing, a fictional TV series; and as an actor in the TV series Big Love, and Homeland. He also used to host a show on MSNBC called Countdown with Keith Olbermann and also appeared as a guest host on the MSNBC channel's multiple political talk shows, but left it when he got his own show on the cable network. Let's look at his short bio below.
Born on 7th November 1951, O'Donnell's birthplace is Boston, Massachusetts in the US. He is American by nationality. His full name is Lawrence Francis O'Donnell Jr., and he is a Roman Catholic Christian by faith. His father Lawrence Francis O'Donnell Sr. was an attorney and his mother Frances Marie was an office manager. Captain of his baseball team when he was in St. Sebastian's School, O'Donnell went on to attend Harvard College and graduated from there in 1976 with a degree major in Economics. His time in Harvard is also marked with involvement as a writer for the Harvard Lampoon, who gained popularity for his witty and sarcastic writing.
After his graduation from Harvard, O'Donnell worked as a writer until 1988, during which time he published Deadly Force in 1983, a book that was later made into a movie of the same name in 1986, and for which O'Donnell was the associate producer. Earlier a senior advisor to Daniel Patrick Moynihan from 1989 to 1991, O'Donnell became the key legislative aid to him from 1989 to 1995.
He was also the staff director of the US Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works under Moynihan. From 1993 to 1995, O'Donnell served on the Senate Finance Committee as the Democratic chief of staff for Bill Clinton's administration, once again under Moynihan. As you can see, he has had good experience working with various capabilities in the government.
His wife was Kathryn Harrold, a TV and film actress with whom he married in 1994 and had one child. The marriage has ended in a divorce, but we don't know the date.
As we all know in the age of technology, any information that we need is just a click away. And that is also how people communicate to each other. O'Donnell is active personally or through his TV channel on social media sites like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. He has over 340 thousand followers on Twitter, around 600 followers on Instagram (his show's account), and over 350 thousand likes on his Facebook page (his show's account). His posts are generally updates from his personal and professional life, but these days they are also filled with his political standings and personal views on social issues.
O'Donnell's net worth is $12 million, and it wouldn't be wrong to say that he totally deserves whatever financial success he has achieved so far.
Here's a fact just in case you don't know. O'Donnell and his brother Michael had a traffic accident while they were on a vacation to the British Virgin Islands, and upon recovery, he returned as usual to his show The Last Word on the MSNBC's 23rd 2014 airing.
