Kasper Schmeichel wiki, bio, age, salary, contract, wife, injury
Born in Copenhagen, Denmark on 5th of November 1986, Kasper Peter Schmeichel is a Danish footballer. Son of former Danish international goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, Kasper is also a goalkeeper like his father.
His father's football career saw him spend most of his childhood in England, thereby acquiring him his native British accent. He had his schooling in England and also in Portugal, where his father played for Sporting Clube de Portugal.
With an imposing height of about 6.2 feet, Kasper is currently 29 years of age. He began his career in 2002 playing for Manchester City, a team that also loaned him to Darlington, Bury, Falkirk, Cardiff City and Coventry City. In 2009, he transferred to Notts County where he left after only one season due to the club's financial conditions despite being of good use to the team. He then joined Leeds United in 2010, where his stint lasted only one season after which he was transferred to Leicester City, his current team.
Kasper's international career has been in the under-19, under-20 and under-21 teams for his country Denmark. In 2007, he was named the Danish under-19 Talent of the Year. His performance made the governing body of English football think whether any possibility existed to have Kasper Schmeichel quit his Danish citizenship in order to play for England's national team. Kasper put that speculation to rest by stating that he would only play for Denmark. Finally In 2011, he was called to play for Denmark's national football team.
With a net worth of $4 million (as of 2015), Kasper joined Leicester City on July 1, 2012 under a contract of $2.4 million until 2018. His annual salary is said to be $589,212.
His girlfriend (not wife), Stine Gyldenbrand is the mother to his son Max and daughter Isabella. A Danish national and a midwife by profession who graduated from the University of Chester, Kasper and Stine founded “The Gyldenbrand Schmeichel Foundation” in 2012. The project aims to improve the situation of maternal mortality in African nations and also collect funds for the Organisation Maternity Worldwide that actively participates in improving lives of mothers and children.
Kasper's foot injury during training in December 2014 had Leicester City's Premier League dreams in doubts, and he did finally return to the team again after a period of 2 months. His team ended 14th rank on the table, with 41 points.
In May 2013, it was reported that Kasper's Twitter account had been hacked. His Twitter account that he began in (@kschmeichel1) has over 111,000 followers as of now.
