Julia Pierson who is a former American law enforcement official was born in the year 1959 in Orlando, Florida. Additionally, she has also served as 23rd Director of United States Secret Service. On 27th March 2013, Julia was appointed as 23rd Director of United States Secret Service by President Barack Obama. She then became first woman who head the agency. During the time she attended the high school, she used to work as a parking lot attendant at the Walt Disney World, water craft attendant and also in costume in the Disney parades. She then attended the University of Central Florida then got graduated from there with a bachelor’s degree in a criminal justice in the year 1981. She has also completed her graduation course studies in the public policy from The George Washington University.

At the beginning of her career, Julia started as a special agent in Secret Service. She was assigned to Miami filed office from 1984 till 1985 and later in Orlando field office from1985 till 1988. Prior to that, Julia has also served in Orlando Police Department as a police officer for three years. Pierson was among one of first female OPD officers who was assigned to the beat. In 2000, she joined as a special agent in the charge of the Office of Protective Operations. She served there until 2001. From the year 2001 to 2005, Julia used to serve as a deputy assistant director in the Office of Administration. Pierson then began to serve as a deputy assistant director in the office of the Protective Operation the same year. She remained in the post till the following year. In addition to that, Julia has also served on presidential protective details (PPDs) of the Presidents George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. Later in 2008, Julia was appointed as a director. She served as chief of staff as well as the assistant director in The Office of Human Resources and Training for Secret Service.
On 27th March 2013, in an Oval office ceremony, Julia was promoted as 23rd Director of United States Secret Service. Before being promoted to the director, Julia was already a agency’s highest ranking woman. While testifying on 30th September 2014 at the United States House of Representatives hearing, Julia had to face Congressional criticism over White House Security Breach of 19th September of 2014. Pierson resigned from the post of Secret Service director on Wednesday 1st October 2014. It was just after a year and a half on that job. Her resignation as a director was accepted by Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson.
Apart from that, since the year 2003, Julia has been the member of federal Senior Executive Service (SES). In addition to that, in 2008, she was also a recipient of SES Presidential Meritorious Executive Rank Award. Besides, Pierson has also been involved actively in the support of the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Concerns of the Police Survivors (COPS).
