John Joseph Bishop is popularly known as an English comedian and an actor who has been involved in magnanimous charitable works where he raised about 4.2 million pounds for the sake of Sports relief in the year 2012. He was born in the year 1966, 30th November, currently 49 years of age.
He was passionate about football and he used to play for the non-league teams like Hyde and Southport. He also worked as a pharmaceutical Rep before he found his career in stand-up comedy. His first television debut was i=on the show named “the Panel” he then appeared in the E4 teen drama named Skins in the seasons 3-4 and also in the movie of Ken Loach named, “Route Irish”. He then appeared in his own shows which included John Bishop’s Britain which started from 2010 and ended in the year 2011; John Bishop’s Only Joking in the year 2013 and John Bishop Show starting from the year 2015 till date.
He also had a regular slot on Sunday at the Liverpool radio station Radio City 96.7 called Bishop’s Sunday Service.
He took birth at the Mill Road Maternity Hospital situated at Liverpool. His mother’s name is Kathleen “Kathy” and father’s name is Edward E. Bishop. He was brought up in the city of Cheshire and he went to Murdishaw West Primary School and to the Brookvale High School after his family migrated. He also studied English for a short period of time at the Newcastle Polytechnic.
In the early 1990, he worked as a medical representative for a pharmaceutical company whose name was Syntex before leaving in the year 2006 just to pursue a career as a comedian. He started performing stand-up comedy afterwards; his first performance was in the city of Manchester in the year 2000 and at the next year after his first stand-up comedy act, he made his way all the way to the finals of the act competitions named “So you think you are funny” and also won the Daily Telegraph Open Mic Awards, City Life North West Comedian of the Year award.
In the year 2002, he was named as the best newcomer BBC Radio Merseyside and in the year 2014, he achieved the North West Comedian of the Year Award for being the best stand-up comedian. In the year 2009, he appeared as the first ever act on Michael Mclntyre’s Comedy Roadshow in the Manchester. His show “Elvis has left the Building” was nominated for an Edinburgh Comedy Award and he mae an appearance in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
He has been married to his wife Melanie since the year 1993 and the couple is blessed with three sons Joe, Luke, and Daniel. He currently lives in the city of Cheshire. As mentioned above, he loves to play football and is a great fan of the football club Liverpool Football Club which was brought up in the show named “A League of their Own”. He has three siblings and among which one is his brother and the remaining are his sisters. His brother is a professional footballer.
He has been a vegan for a long period of time i.e. 20 years. In the year 2013, PETA declared him as one of the “Sexiest Vegetarians” of the year. His tour tickets can be bought online and the dates are updated every now and then.
