Jeb Bush 2016 issues
Jeb Bush who had served as 43rd Governor of Florida from the year 1999 till 2007 was born on 11th February 1953. He is the native of Midland, Texas, United States. As a child he was named as John Ellis Bush by his parents former President George H. W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush. He is the second son of his parents. His elder brother is former President George w. Bush. Jeb was grown up in Houston, Texas where he and his family relocated when he was at the age of six. He went to study in Grady Elementary School located in Houston. He then went on to join at Massachusetts Boarding School Phillips Academy. At the age of 17, as a part of the Philips Academy;s Student Exchange Program, Jeb taught English as second language in the Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico. He then attend the University of Texas from where he earned himself a degree in the Latin American affairs in the year 1973.
In 1981, Jeb moved to Florida and he joined Cadina Group which was a real estate development company. After that, in 1987, he became the secretary of commerce under the governor Bob Martinez. He was also a Republican nominee for the governor in 1994 but lose to Lawton Chiles. He again ran as well as won in the year 1998 and became the governor of Florida. It was at same time when George W. Bush was the governor of the Texas. He then again re-elected in 2002 and he defeat Democrat Bill McBride. Jeb was involved in Terri Schiavo Case which involved the woman with the massive brain damage. She was on feeding tube for more thatn fifteen years and he husband as well as legal guardian Michael Schiavo wished for removing the tube. The move was then opposed by Terri’s parents in courts. Jeb signed the Legislation of Terri’s Law that was passed by Florida legislature which authorized him as the Governor to keep Terri on a life support. On 23rd September 2004, the law was ruled unconstitutional by Florida Supreme Court.
Prior to that, Jeb was approached for becoming next commissioner of National Football League in May of the year 2006. Later, he indicated in 2008 that Jeb was considering the running in 2010 US Senate race for seat being vacated by Mel Martinez. But he announced in janaury of 2009 that he wouldn’t run for Senate. Throughout the year 2009 and 2010, there were rumors that Jeb would attempt to win Republican nomination for 2012 Presidential Election. That was the rumor which he denied from beginning. He has now been mentioned as the possible candidate for 2016 Presidential Election. When he was asked publicly on 7th February 2013 at Marin Speaker, he replied that he would make decision at proper time; at least a year from now. In a press conference on 16th April 2013 at Bluefield College, Jeb said that he is not considering the run now and he had not started the decision making process. Later, again in 16th December 2014, he announced via Facebook that he would be actively exploring 2016 run for becoming President of Unites States.
To talk about his personal life, Bush is married to his wife Columba Garnica Gallo. He met Gallo in Leon, Mexico in the year 1971 where he was teaching the English as part of the foreign exchange program. Later, the couple got married in Austin, Texas on 23rd February of 1974. Bush and Gallo have three children together. Their first child, a son named George Prescott Bush was born on 24th April, 1976. Their second child, a daughter named Noelle Lucila Bush was born on 26th July 1977 and their youngest child, a son named John Ellis Bush was born on 13th December 1983.
Apart from that, Jeb is now at the age of 61 and stands at the height of six feet nad three inches. He is only Republican who served for two full four years terms as a Governor of Florida. In addition to that, Bush is also active in charitable activities. He had started The GFoundation For Florida’s Future which is a non-profit organization. He had also “volunteered the time to assist Miami Children’s Hospital, United Way of the Dade County and Dade County Homeless Trust”. Currently, he is also serving as the co-chair of Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy together with his sister named Doro Bush Koch. He had also co-founded first charter school in State of the Florida: liberty city charter school which was the grades K-6 Elementary School. He also established Points of Light Program in the year 2000 for recognizing an exemplary volunteer organization of person.
