Jack Sock is the youngest American to reach round of 16 since Pete Sampras
He started to play Futures Tournament in 2009 winning his first senior tournament. He then entered his first qualifying draw for ATP tournament at 2010 Miami Masters. He finished 2010 season by ranking 878th in the world. The following year, he reached final of USA F3 tournament.
In addition to that, he also started to play a few tournaments at the Challenger level with his biggest success being quarterfinal at Dallas Challenger.
During his recent age, he has become the youngest American who reached the round of 16 since Pete Sampras in the year 1993.
