Indra Petersons

Indra Valija Petersons was born on June 22, 1980, in Los Angeles, California, the United States of America. She is the daughter of Dr. Viesturs T. Petersons who is a skilled neurologist and mother Silvija Petersons. According to her bio, she is of Latvian descent and her name is derived from a city in Latvia.  

Indra Petersons' first language is Latvian however spending most of her time in Sates she is very fluent in English.  It is said that she can understand Spanish too. Indra is a very enthusiastic person since her childhood; she started playing piano and even skiing when she was just three.

Indra Petersons spent her little age learning about the heritage and history of Latvia including native folk-songs and dances. She leads an exciting life traveling around the world. Chasing storms and tornadoes across the globe may sound like a professional vacation, but that hasn't stopped her from going diving with white sharks in Africa, sand boarding at Peru, exploring the Amazon, riding camels on the deserts of Jordan and celebrate Holi in the streets of Delhi in India.

After completing her high school from La Canada High School in 1998, Petersons entered University of Arizona and graduated in 2002 with a B.Sc. in Atmospheric Physics with business, math, and physics as minors.

Indra Petersons has found the exact love and care from her husband as her parents do. She is engaged to Jake Wood in April 2013 and got married the same year on August 10. Jake Wood is the son of Jeff Wood and Chris Wood.

The wedding ceremony of this couple was held in New York. They happily exchanged marriage vows in front of family and friends. Husband Jake Wood is a Marine Corps Scout Sniper. While being a sniper he took a tour in many countries as part of his job.

 Indra Petersons began her career in 2002 as a meteorologist for KVIA in El Paso, Texas and later KEYT in Santa Barbara, California.

This lady is a self-proclaimed “weather nerd" who initiated her career joining KVIA in Texas as a meteorologist. The same year, in 2002, she moved to KEYT in Santa Barbara California. In 2003 she then started reporting on environment and general assignment issues as a meteorologist and weather producer at KABC in Los Angeles.

Later in 2013, people started seeing Indra on CNN's New Day show. There she did many weather segments for CNN Newsroom.  She also contributes to MSNBC and The Weather Channel.

Voted in 2011 by the public as the city's best meteorologist on the Los Angeles Hotlist, Petersons was awarded the STEM Leadership in Media Award by The Alliance for Women in Media.

Indra Petersons is also engaged in some social welfare works. She is the board of director of the Kids First Fund, which is a non-profit organization that works to support sexually and physically abused women and children.
