Iman who is a Somali-American fashion model, an actress as well as an entrepreneur is also a pioneer in the field of the ethnic cosmetics. In addition to that, she is also mostly noted for her charitable work. She is the native of Mogadishu, Somalia. She came into this world on 25th July of the year 1955 which has now made her reach at the age of 60.
Although she is known by the name Iman, as a child, she was named as Iman Mohamed Abdulmajid. She was born during the final years of the Italian rule. Iman is the one among the five children born to her parents Marian and Mohamed Abdulmajid. Her family members also include her four siblings. Among them, two are brothers named Elias and Feisal and other two are sisters named as Idil and Nadia.
Iman went to get her education from the high school located in Egypt and she later lived in Kenya where she got enrolled at the University of Nairobi from where she studied the political science. She is a Muslim by religion. In addition to that, she is also fluent in five other languages which are Somali, Italian, French, Arabic as well as English. While she was still at the university, she was discovered by an American photographer Peter Beard and then she subsequently moved to United States to start her modeling career. At preset, she is signed to the TESS Management in London.
Moving on to her personal life biography, Iman has already got married. She has married for three times. At first she was married to a Somali man with whom her marriage ended in just few years. After that, she remarried Spencer Haywood in 1977. They have a daughter together and later, they got divorced in February of 1987. Later, she was then married to her husband David Bowie who was an English rock musician. The couple tied their knot with each other on 24th April of the year 1992 and they remained together till the death of David on 10th January of 2016. The pair also has one daughter together who is named as Alexandria Zahra Jones.
Prior to that, Iman has also made her appearances in the TV shows and series as well as movies. She has twice appeared in Miami Vice, as Dakotah in Back in the World and Lois Blyth At First Sight. Her other filmography includes House Party 2, L. A. Story, Lies of the Twins, Out of Africa, Exposed, The Human Factor, Exit to Eden, In the Heat of the Night and many others.
