Evan Mathis who is an American football offensive guard was born on 1st November of the year 1981. He is currently a free agent. He is the native of Birmingham, Alabama. He had played college football for University of Alabama. He went to study at the Homewood High School that is located in Homewood, Alabama. There, he played the football as well as competed in the track and wrestling. Even was coached in football by Bob Newton. He won 2000 Alabama 6A heavyweight championship in the wrestling. In track & field, he competed in shot put event.

During his college career, he signed with the Alabama in February of the year 2000. He was then redshirted as the true freshman. He was named as the Paul Crane Most Improved Offensive Lineman for the Alabama in April of 2001 along with the tight end Theo Sanders. He also competed with Alonzo Ephraim for starting center job during the spring practice in the same year but he lost out. Instead that, Evan beat out Dante Ellington for starting right tackle job and made his first start against the South Carolina.

He was drafted in third round of 2005 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers and he has played for Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins, and Philadelphia Eagles. From the year 2008 till 2010, Mathis played for Cincinnati Bengals. During 2009 and 2010 seasons, he did not allow a sack. On 31st July of 2011, he was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles to one year contract. Soon after the pre-season, he won starting job at the left guard for 2011 season. He then again signed five years $25.5 million deal with Eagles on 17th March of the following year. On 11th June of 2015, he was released after he held out of the OTAs in the search of new contract.

Prior to that, Mathis has been rated as the Best Guard in the NFL by Pro Football Focus for the year 2011, 2012 and 2013 season. In the year 2014, he was rated as second best guard in league despite missing the seven games because of the injury. He was also named to the USA Today All-Joe Team after 2012 season. In addition to that, Evan was ranked at number 6 overall in the Pro Football Focus’ Top 101 of 2012. He was also chosen by the Pro Football Focus in 2013 for its inaugural Bruce Matthews Award recognizing NFL’s Best Offensive Lineman. He was also voted as the First Team All-Pro in the same year for his excellent performance with the Philadelphia.
