David Muir who is American journalist and an anchor for the ABC News was born on the 8th of November 1973 in Syracuse, New York, US. He was raise up in Onondaga Hill which is a hamlet southwest of Syracuse. He is the son of Ronald Muir and wife Pat Mills. He has an elder sister who is named Becky. He is of white ethnicity. David went to the Onondaga Junior-Senior High School and graduated from there in 1991. Later, he attended Park School of Broadcasting at Ithaca College located in Ithaca, New York. From there, he graduated magna cum laude in 1995 with Bachelor of Arts degree in the journalism. During his time at the college, David attended institute on Political Journalism at Fund for an American Studies at the Georgetown University and also studied at University of Salamanca in Spain.
After completing the graduation, he immediately began his professional broadcasting career from the year 1995. He joined as an anchor as well as a reporter at the WTVH-TV located in Syracuse. While there, he reported from Jerusalem, Israel , Tel Aviv and the Gaza Strip. He was also honored by the associated Press for the Best Enterprise Reporting and Best Television Interview. David served WTVH for five years until 2005. After that, the same year, he was hired by WCVB –TV where he served for three years as a reporter and anchor. During his tenure there, he has won regional Edward R. Murrow Award for investigating reporting and tracing the 9/11 hijackers. He also own the National Headliner Award as well as Associated Press honors for his work done.
After resigning from there, he was then hired by the ABC News in August of the year 2003. He started there as an anchor of overnight news program World News Now. He then became an anchor of the World News Saturday since February of 2007. The same year, he also co-anchored news magazine Primetime occasionally. After several years, David was promoted to anchor both the weekend newscasts and broadcast named as “World News with David Muir” in 2010. He served as one of ABC’s lead correspondents in November 2012 for the 2012 U.S. Presidential election. Later in March of 2013, he was again promoted to co-anchor the ABC’s 20/20 along with Elizabeth Vargas. It was announced on 25th June 2014 by ABC News that David Muir would be succeeding Diane Sawyer as anchor and managing editor of the ABC World News. He then made the debut broadcast on 1st September of 2014.
