Born on 26th January 1963 in Santa Barbara, California, Daryn Kagan is a journalist, writer, producer, and a broadcast personality. She grew up in Beverly Hills, California and is 53 years of age. She is 5 feet 8 inches in height, and her zodiac sign is Capricorn. Let's check out her bio below compiled from different websites.
Jewish by ethnicity, Kagan's great-grandfather Eiser Cohen came from Russia to the US by the way of Ellis Island, as an immigrant. He then settled down in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the family moved to Los Angeles in her grandfather Jack Kagan's time. Kagan's mother survived breast cancer and appeared during CNN broadcast talking about her disease. Kagan has two siblings, Mark is her elder brother, and Kallan is younger to her who works as an executive at Arc Productions.
While at school Kagan was very active as an athlete, and she was on her high school team. She even participated in a cross-country event. She attended Beverly Hills High School and graduated from there in 1981. In 1985, she graduated from Stanford University. Upon completing her education at Stanford, she started sending out hundreds of demo tapes to media stations. She was finally hired by KEYT-TV, a TV station at Santa Barbara in the on-air post. She moved to Phoenix to join KTVK and work as a general assignment reporter.
Since she wasn't satisfied reporting general news stuff, she started anchoring for sports news on weekends. Kagan's contract with KTVK wasn't renewed, so she was hired by CNN in the position of correspondent and anchor for sports. She covered NBA events, Super Bowl, International figure skating championship in Russia, and a lot more sporting events. Having covered a lot of sports events for some years, CNN hired her for their sports division. She was simultaneously working as their news anchor, correspondent, and sports reporter.
While at CNN, she has covered the Gulf War, the sniper attack at Washington D.C., the 9/11 attacks (in fact, she was one of the only few reporters live on air when the attacks happened), AIDS and famine report for all CNN network from Africa where she travelled with Bono. She also maintained a blog on a daily basis on CNN's website, about the news and her personal experiences related to them. She also covered many Oscar events directly from the red carpet, and Monterey Jazz Festival.
It has become a trend to start a social media account on one or two sites these days but for media personalities and celebrities, it is a necessity since they need to interact with their followers even outside their TV show. Kagan has her own website that she launched after leaving CNN called darynkagan.com. You could follow her on Twitter along with other 5,762 followers to stay updated on her personal and professional life, and very recently she posted a link to sign up for her weekly newsletters filled with inspiring materials.
Talking about her relationship status, back in 2004, Kagan had a brief affair with Rush Limbaugh, a radio talk show host. But this relationship didn't last for more than 2 years, and they called it off in 2006. There are no reports if she is married to anyone right now, or about her children, if any.
Kagan is also very much into helping animals and has adopted from rescue organisations a 3-legged cat named Tripod, and a dog named Darla Louise.
