Vance is on Board of Directors for the Actors Center located in New York City. He is an active supporter of Boys and Girls Clubs of America. In addition to that, he was recently inducted into Alumni Hall of Fame for Boys and Girls Clubs of America. On PBS Program “Finding Your Roots” he discovered that his dad was born out of the wedlock to 17 years old woman named Victoria Ardella Vance.
Vance is mostly known for portraying his roles in feature films “The Hunt for Red October” and “Hamburger Hill” as well as in TV series such as “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” in which he had played as Assistant District Attorney Ron Carver. He has also guest starred as Chief Tommy Delk on TNT series called “The Closer” from 2010 till 2011. He also won the Tony Award for the Best Featured Actor in a Play in 2013 for his role in Lucky Guy. Vance has been active in the acting field since 1983 and since then, he has been very successful and gained a large number of fans following.
