Born on August 25th 1970 in Rheinberg (Germany), Claudia Schiffer has an interesting bio as a supermodel, film and TV actress and creative director of her own clothing label – Claudia Schiffer Cashmere. Appearing in more than 1000 magazine covers, 14 films and 12 documentaries, Schiffer is 45 years of age and was born under the zodiac sign Virgo.

In her schooldays, Schiffer was subject to jealousy over her rich social status, finding it hard to have close friends being of shy and low-attention seeking nature. Originally wanting to be a lawyer, she worked in her father's law firm, later quitting upon being spotted in a nightclub in Dusseldorf and signed into modelling by Michel Levaton from the Metropolitan Model Agency.

After completing her education, she began working as a model, appearing in the cover of French Elle, a Guess Jeans campaign, cover of British Vogue and many other high profile magazine , and most notably as the new face of the fashion giant Chanel - carving a niche for herself as a supermodel. She was also featured on the cover/pictorial of a 1997 Playboy edition.

She appeared as one of the Modern Muses on the 1999 November millenium cover of Vogue, as well as being the first model to appear on the cover of Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, The New York Times, People and numerous times on covers of Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, Cosmopolitan and Time. A judge on 2011 Fashion Fringe, Schiffer has been the face of recent campaigns for Dom Perignon, Chanel, YSL, Salvatore Ferragamo, Dolce & Gabbana as well as 2012's Guess black and white ads.

The first model to ever grace the cover of the music mag Rolling Stone, Schiffer once described her approach to modelling, "The most important thing is that you take the profession very seriously, because it is a business. If you really want to make it, you have to give it your all. And well, I work everyday. You work weekends. You work holidays. And you just that is your passion and that's what you want to do."

At one time the highest paid model in the world, with fees around $50,000 per day plus millions from licensing and endorsements, Schiffer's humanitarian side can be seen through her involvement with UNICEF, Make Poverty History and Live 8 Concerts in year 2005.

Schiffer met magician David Copperfield in 1993 and the couple got engaged in 1994 and broke-up in 1999 after six years of engagement.
