Chuck Norris is an American film producer, filmmaker, actor and martial artist. He is a veteran in the industry with a countless number of movies where he starred in a leading role including Bruce Lee’s ‘Way of the Dragon’. He considered himself to be a supporter of Republican and is also recognized for his philanthropic works.

Personal and Family Life

Chuck Norris was born on March 10, 1940, in Ryan, Oklahoma, US, to Ray Norris and Wilma Norris. His father often switches off his job from a bus driver to truck driver, a mechanic and army soldier from World War II. Ray was an alcoholic and over and over again lashes out at his family. The time he was still a teen when his parents separated and he went on to stay with his mom and brothers. He went to North Torrance High School and was more of a shy and introvert nature student.

In 1958, Norris tied a knot with his first wife Dianne Hole. The couple welcomed their first baby Mike in 1963. He had also been in an extra marital affair even while married to Dianne and he even had a daughter Dina with the women. In 1988, Norris and Dianne 30 years of marriage came to an awful end. He then married former model Gena O’Kelly in 28th November 1998. The couple was blessed with the twins Danielle Kelly Norris and Dakota Alan Norris on August 30, 2001.

 

Career and Professional Life

Norris was the son of an army and it was in his blood so following the footsteps of his father he started his career joining the United States Air Force in 1958 as an Air Policeman. As a part of work, he was sent to Osan Air Base, South Korea. There he learned his love for martial arts. He persistently served March Air Force Base in California after an arrival to the United States. In 1962, he was released from the military service.

After the departure from US Air Force, he began working at U.S. aircraft manufacturing company called Northrop Corporation. In 60’s he opened over 30 karate schools including one in his then hometown on Hawthorne Boulevard. He was an expert and a great instructor in martial arts that celebrities like Priscilla Presley, Chad McQueen, Steve McQueen and Marie Osmond joined his class. He also participated numerous championships and tournaments with some of the significant victories over competitors like Skipper Mullins, Victor Moore, and Steve Sanders.

In 1969, he shifted his career interest to the movie industry after Steve McQueen, a celebrity student persuaded him. His debut movie was Phil Karlson ‘The Wrecking Crew’ which starred Dean Martin. Norris first met with Bruce Lee at martial arts demonstration in Long Beach may be coincident but it was a turning point for him. The introduction instantly earned him a role in Lee’s directorial venture ‘Way of the Dragon’ which was a big hit. In late 70’s he starred in Don Hulette action film ‘Breaker! Breaker!’ In the following year, he starred in numerous movies including ‘Good Guys Wear Black’ (1978), The Octagon (1980) and An Eye for an Eye (1981).

Norris previous movies proved his credibility and filmmaker were sure that he can be trusted in terms of box office. In 1984, he appeared in a leading role of Colonel James Braddock in action film ‘Missing in Action’. The movie was dedicated to his brother Wieland who was killed in Vietnam while patrolling in the defense of Firebase Ripcord. In over next four years, he was named Cannon’s most prominent star with movies like ‘Code of Silence’, ‘Firewalker’ and ‘The Delta Force’.

In 1993, he started filming for CBS action television series ‘Walker, Texas Ranger’. In 1990, he founded Chun Kuk Do which is an advancement of Korean martial art form Tang Soo Doo.

He is an openly Christian follower and has written a couple of Christian-based books including ‘The Justice Riders’. He has also appeared in TV commercials promoting Bible study and a Christian prayer in schools.

He is a huge supporter of Republican and has been offering more than $32,000 to Republican organizations and its candidates since 1988. He has been promoting Republican Mike Huckabee over and over again and did endorse him in 2016 Republican primary too. In 2017 United States Senate special election in Alabama, he supported former Alabama chief justice, Roy Moore.

According to celebrity net worth, Chuck Norris has earned a whopping net worth of $70 million during his entire professional career. His paychecks from movies and television series have also contributed to his net worth. He has also endorsed numerous brands and commercials for celebrated bands including a commercial for Mountain Dew. His appearance on the promotional campaign of Total Gym home fitness equipment also earned her a lot. In 2010, he advertised T-Mobile, a communication company in the Czech Republic.

Awards and Contribution

Chuck Norris has won some of the prestigious film awards from the industry. He has won BMI TV Music Award for three consecutive years. In 2001, he was awarded Golden Boot Awards for his immense contribution to the industry. He was also honored with Hollywood walk of fame in 1989. He has also won Special Award for Action Star of the Year and International Box Office Star of the Year. He was the recipient of Texas Ranger which was presented by Texas Governor Rick Perry on 2nd December 2010. Commandant General James T. Conway honored Norris with United States Marine in his Washington D.C. residence on March 28, 2007.

Norris is also widely praised and recognized for his good cause and social service. He was a spokesperson for U.S. Veterans Administration following his service in the U.S. Air Force in Korea. In 1990, he founded United Fighting Arts Federation, a martial arts organization, and Kickstart Kids. He also launched a martial arts based competition named World Combat League from which the funds collected were provided to Kickstart kids program
