His wife is Cristina Greeven Cuomo, editor of the Gotham magazine whom her married in 2001 following the Roman Catholic rituals. The couple have 3 children, and the family currently reside in Manhattan. Cuomo is 46 years of age and his net worth is estimated at $7 million.

Son of former New York Governer Mario Cuomo and the brother of current New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Cuomo attended The Albany Academy, and received his undergraduate degree from Yale University. His Juris Doctor (JD) was from Fordham University, and he is a licensed attorney.

He also has been recognized with the Polk and Peabody Award for team coverage, the Edward R. Morrow Award for breaking news coverage, the Loeb Award for business reporting, the American Bar Association Silver Gavel Award for investigating juvenile justice.
