An American radio and a TV commentator and a writer Charles Osgood’s daily program called The Osgood File had broadcast on CBS Radio Network since 1971. In addition to that, he is also the host of the CBS News Sunday Morning. In 1960s, Charles collaborated with the composer named John Cacavas. Their work in the recording of Gallet Man of U.S. Senator Everett Dirksen had won Grammy Award for the spoken work performance. He is widely known for becoming the voice of the narrator of Horton Hears a Who! Which is an animated movie that was released in 2009 and it is based on book of same name written by Dr. Seuss. Despite being known by name Charles Osgood, as a child, Osgood was named as Charles Osgood Wood, III. During his childhood, he moved to Liberty Heights which is the neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland together with his family. He then went to get the education from the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. Osgood’s memoir about him growing up in the Baltimore at the time of the World War II is called as Defending Baltimore against Enemy Attack that he published in 2004 and he recounts the perspective from nine years old.
He also got enrolled at the Fordham University from where he graduated with Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics in 1954. While his tenure there, he worked at the FM radio station of that university WFUV. From 1955 until 1959, he was in U.S. Army. There, he served as member of the United States Army Band in Washington, D.C. His duties included performing with the United States Army Chorus as well as the master of the ceremonies for US Army Concert Band. In addition to that, Charles is also an accomplished pianist.
