An American native Bridgit Claire Mendler is popular actor, singer, and songwriter. She started her career with an Indian animated movie ‘The Legend of Buddha’ and since then she has appeared in several other movies. Her music career began after recording some popular promotional songs for the Disney movie.

Personal and Family Life

Bridgit Claire Mendler was born on December 18, 1992, in Washington, D.C., US, to Leah Mendler and Harry Mendler. She spent her 8 years in D.C and then moved back to Mill Valley, California after then.

After graduation from high school, she attended the University of Southern California to take an anthropology class. Her love for anthropology forces her to strike a balance between her study and work. In 2016, she earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology.

Mendler was in a very warm relationship with actor Shane Harper. They came close during the shoot of ‘Good Luck Charlie’ and started seeing each other in May 2011. They looked adorable as a couple but in late 2015, Mendler confirmed that the relationship does not last any longer.

Career and Professional Life

As soon she moved down to California, her passion for art and acting started growing immensely. To hone her acting skills, she participated in a number of local dramatic and musical theatres, which made her youngest performer in the business. At the age of 11, Mendler confident with her ambition hired an agent who helped her get the deals. During all this time she also performed a number of commercials and lend her voice to a couple of them.

In 2004, she got her first breakthrough with an Indian animated movie ‘The Legend of Buddha’, where she voiced the character, Lucy. At the age of 13, she guest starred in a daytime medical drama ‘General Hospital, in which she portrayed Lulu’s dream daughter. Her very debut film was ‘Alice Upside Down’, which was an adaption of the Alice series alongside Disney beauties Lucas Grabeel and Alyson Stoner. She was also the backstage vocalist for the song ‘Free Spirit’, sang by Stoner. After a futile audition for Sonny with a Chance, she earned herself a role in the film adaption of Lisa Harrison hit teen series ‘The Clique’.

The following year, she started filming ‘Labor Pains’ along with actress and singer Lindsay Lohan, but after the internal conflicts and disputes, the movie was released in on ABC Family in the form of TV film. The movie was an instant success and received positive reviews from audiences, released in different other countries. Mendler was also offered the role of Becca Kingston in 2009 animated comedy film ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel’, which she delightedly accepted. The same year she also appeared in a recurring role of vampire Juliet Van Heusen in Disney teen sitcom ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’.

Till the time the series came to an end, Mendler rose to become one of the prominent Disney stars. In 2010, she was starred on Disney Channel sitcom ‘Good Luck Charlie’, in which she appeared in a lead role of Teddy R. Duncan. While everything favored in her career, Mendler was also cast in a lead role of Olivia White in Disney Channel movie ‘Lemonade Mouth’. The story was based on five teens, who overcome their worries and followed their dream surely catch the nerves of the viewers and met with positive reviews.

She discovered her singing talent from the movie and performed some of the best soundtracks for it, which was released under Walt Disney Records in April. Her first single ‘Somebody’ was straightaway liked by the listeners and followed by it, her second single ‘Determinate’ reached at no.51 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2011, she appeared in a direct DVD comedy film ‘Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2’ in the voice of French Stewart, a dog show commentator and also went on to release a promotional song ‘This Is My Paradise’ for the film.

While having a great career in the movie industry something incredible happened to Mendler. She signed a record deal with Hollywood record label and soon started working on her very first album. On November 12, 2011, she released a promotional track ‘I’m Gonna Run to You’ from her movie ‘Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas! The next year, she guest starred in a Canadian teen drama series ‘Degrassi: The Next generation’.

After a complete recording and other process going on, Mendler released her debut solo single ‘Ready or Not’ for digital download on August 7, which peaked at 49 in the United States. For the promotion of her studio album, she headed to her debut concert tour titled ‘Bridgit Mendler: Live in Concert’. Her very first studio album ‘Hello My Name Is…’ was dropped on October 22 under Hollywood Records. The album reached number 30 on Billboard 200 and was a commercial success. To further create hype for her album, she released two more promotional songs ‘Top of the World’ and ‘Forgot to Laugh’.

From her studio album, Mendler released her second single ‘Hurricane’ on February 12, 2013. The song was immensely popular among audiences and peaked no.1 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100. A short time after, she took a Summer Tour where she released her first EP ‘Live in London’ on March 18, 2013, by Universal Music. She performed her first ever brand new song ‘Fly to You’ on her second tour in Charlottetown on June 28, 2014. In between the time she was also offered a lead role Candace on NBC comedy series ‘Undateable’. On July 2, 2015, the sources confirmed that she left Hollywood records earlier that year.

In early 2016, the report was confirmed that Mendler was working on her second studio album and on August 4, she released her new single ‘Atlantis’ from the album which also featured Kaiydo. On November 18, she released her second EP Nemesis.

 Mendler went on to her second summer tour in Charlottetown on June 28, 2014, where she performed her brand new song ‘Fly to You’. After two years she returned as Ashley Willerman in the television with CMT series ‘Nashville’. On February 10, she appeared in a lead role on Fox comedy pilot Thin Ice. On August 25, 2017, her latest single ‘Diving’ from up and coming album was released on August 25, 2017. 

Contribution

Mendler vigorously participates social cause and charitable works. She was named ambassador of First Book in 2010and helped to provide books and encouraged the deprived children on reading. In 2011, she raised $250 thousand for the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund. The very next year, she was honored with the honorary award ‘Common Sense Media’ for being the role model of the year. In January 2013, she performed in annual UNICEF acoustic concert in New York and helped raise funds for charity. She also came in support of Save the Children Foundation and joined the World Challenge Marathon racers to collect the donations for the charity to aid children with the health issues.
