He was introduced with 'Black Sheep' mask as a member of Wyatt Family. On 12th May of 2013, it was reported that Braun had signed with the WWE. Later, he was assigned to WWE Performance Center where he adopted his ring name Braun Stowman.

He then made his wrestling debut at the NXT live event on 19th December of 2014 defeating Chad Gable. On 2nd June of the following year, he made his appearance at the Main Event taping a dark match where he defeated one of the unknown wrestlers.

Braun Strowman earned the Strongman Corporation Professional Card by winning NAS US Amateur National Championship on 5th November of 2011. The following year on 4 March, he won 2012 Arnold Amateur Strongman Championships that took place during Arnold Sports Festival along with 2012 Arnold Strongman Classic.
