Robert Quinlan Costas is an American sportscaster for the NBC Sports television since the early 1980s. He was born in the year 1952, 22nd March, making him63 years of age at present. He has been the prime host for nine different Olympic Games. He also has been doing the play-by-play MLB Network and has been hosting an interview called Studio 42 along with Bob Costas. He was born in the city of Queens situated at New York. His mother’s name is Jayne, who is of Irish descent and his father’s name is John George Costas who is an electrical engineer of Greek descent. The family roots of his father are from the island of Kalymnos located in the Aegean Sea. In one documentary television series called Baseball which was directed by Jen Buns, he said that baseball was a source of connection between him and his father. He was brought up in the city of Commack where he graduated from the Commack High School South.

After high schooling, he majored in the subject communication at the Syracuse University. He then left the school before graduating to accept a job in a radio giant KMOX and later received a degree from S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

He was married to Carole Randall for about 18 years, i.e. 1982 to 2001. The couple has two children, a son named Keith who was born in the year 1986 and daughter Taylor who was born on 1989. Once jokingly, he promised Kirby Puckett that if he was batting over .350 by the time his child was born, he would be naming the child Kirby. After Kirby reminded him of the promise because Kirby was hitting better than .350, he changed the name on the birth certificate to “Keith Michael Kirby Costas”. In the year 2004, he got married to another woman named Jill Sutton, his current wife,and at present, they live happily in the New York City but in many occasions he has spilled out the fact that he still thinks about his hometown St. Louis.

His children also have won different sports Emmys; his son has won two Emmys as associate producers in the MLB network’s MLB Tonight and his daughter Taylor has won an Emmy as an associate producer in the NBC’s coverage of the Summer Olympics in the year 2012.

In the year 2007, he discussed the presidency of George W. Bush in his radio show where he said that Bush personally had always been optimistic about his presidency but in the course of Iran war, his missteps had led him to conclude that his presidency had tragically failed. And in the following he interviewed Bush at the time of president’s appearance during the Summer Olympics held in the year 2008 in Beijing.

At the time of his coverage in the Winter Olympics, he was criticized by some conservative members of the media for praising Putin’s role in defusing the tensions which surrounded Syria and Iran. Some media commentators defended the remarks by Costa saying that they were factually correct.
