Growing up in Co-op City, he played basketball at the Wheaton High School. He later worked alongside the famed Albie Dee as he interned at Washington DC's WPGC 95.5 FM while still attending University of Maryland, College Park. His innovative style and on-air persona helped make a career out of this internship, and he would depart Washington DC in 2001 after six years as the undisputed champ of the nighttime radio.
Still working in the radio, Tigger entered TV circuits as a voice-over artist for BET or Black Entertainment TV in 1996, and later as a host for the program Rap City from 1999 to 2005.
