Becky Hammon : Personal Life
As a child, she was born as Rebecca Lynn to Martin and Bev Hammon. She also has a brother and a sister. She attended Stevens High School which is located in her own hometown where she also played the high school basketball. While she was a junior, she was a South Dakota Miss Basketball.
Later, in her senior year, Becky was voted as the South Dakota Player of the Year. The same year, her graduating class voted her for the female class athlete. Becky graduated with a degree in the exercise and sports science in the year 1999 from the Colorado State University. While there, she was the prolific scorer. Becky was named as the WAC Mountain Division Player of the Year in 1998-99 season.

On 12th November 2004, Becky was inducted into Colorado State University’s Sports Hall of Fame. On 22nd January 2005, at Moby Arena, her jersey number 25 was retired. On 4th April 2007, she was traded to Silver Stars during WNBA Draft. The year was the best season of her career. During her tenure at Antonio, she earned a nickname which is called “Big Shot Becky”. The nickname was due to her ability to hit the shots in clutch moments. She then joined the Russian National team the following year. After joining, she was criticized by the former Team USA coach Anne Donovan.
On 31st August, 2011, Becky became the seventh player in the WNBA history who scored 5000 points. Hammon made a great decision and it was a great opportunity to get to Olympics Games. After that, she had played for the Russia at the Eurobasket in the year 2009, World Championship in the year 2010 and Olympics in 2012. The following year on 13th of July, Becky suffered from a tore of left anterior cruciate ligament. It happened when she was in game against Los Angeles Sparks.
Later,on 23rd of July, Becky announced that she would retire at the end of 2014 season. Hammon was then hired as an assistant coach in 5th August 2014 by San Antonio Spurs. Becky is the one who became the second female assistant coach in the NBA history. But she is the first full-time assistant coach which also made her a first full-time female assistant coach in the four major professional sports in North America.
