Albertin Aroldis Chapman de la Cruz is known across the baseball world as one of the professional Cuban baseball pitchers. He was born in the year 1988, 28th February. He plays for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball and he also has experience of playing for the Cincinnati Reds and Holguin in the Cuban National series. He bats and throws with his left hand and he is nicknamed as the Cuban Missile and the Cuban Flame Thrower. His bio includes the following details.

He was born in the city of Holguin in Cuba and he lived in a three room house along with his parents and two sisters. His father was once a boxing trainer and he had taught Aroldis how to box. 

His friend invited him to join a local basketball team when he was 15 years of age; then he began playing as a first baseman till the coach noticed that he could throw well enough to become a pitcher. He then started his career as a pitcher in the year 2003.

He has been clocked as the highest 105 mph which is about 169 kmph according to the MLB Scouts. At a match against San Diego Padres, he was clocked at 105.1 mph which is the fastest pitch that has ever been recorded in the Major League Baseball.

In the year 2011, 18th April, he threw a pitch to Pittsburgh’s Andre McCutchen which was clocked as 106 mph though the box in the Fox Sports broadcasted it as 105 mph; the PITCHf system recorded a release speed of 102.4 mph and the difference between those speeds has been widely been questioned and discussed.

He joined Holguin Sabuesos of the Cuban National Series League in the year 2006. He compiled a 24-19 win loss record with an ERA of 3.74 backed up with a total of 365 strikeouts. He had made 11 relief appearances in the season of 2007 though he was used primarily as a starting pitcher.

He also was part of Cuban National Team at the time of Pan American Games held in the year 2007 and World Baseball Classic in the year 2009.

When he was defected, he left his family which consisted of his father, mother girlfriend and his two sisters and even the children. In the year 2014, June 30th his son Atticus Gabriel took birth and in the year 2012 in the month of May it was reported that he was getting sued because he was accused of being an informant for the Cuban State Authorities and failed defection attempt and then helped turn in another man to get back to National Baseball Team.

In the year 2015, 7th December, a news broke out that he was involved in domestic violence. The trade which was pending Los Angeles Dodgers was kept on hold to investigate the incident; he was even accused of chocking his girlfriend and firing eight gunshots. His attorney issued a statement of denying all the accusations.
