Aries Merritt is seven times All-American. In the year 2004, he won gold in the 110-meter hurdles at the World Junior Championships and at the 2006 World Athletics Final he ended up in the sixth position. During his early career he also won the NCCA Championships he broke the Willie Gault's Tennessee Volunteers hurdles record.
During 2008 he was one of the competitors for the World Athletics Final where he finished in the fourth position. He has been in any of the games like the US Olympic Trials, US, Indoor Championship, the World Indoor Championship and also the Olympic Games.
In 2011 World Champions in Athletics at the final of 110m hurdles he was positioned as sixth with a time of 13.67 s. In 2012 campaign Aries was seen having a new approach to the first hurdle changing from eight to seven steps. He became the indoor champion in the 60 meters hurdles which was a great victory for him at the 2012 World Indoor Championships held in Istanbul.
He won 110m hurdles final at Olympic Trials in Oregon in World leading time of 12.93s. It was on 7th September 2012 at final Diamond League meet when he ran a time of 12.80s in 110-meter hurdles crushing the old world record held by Dayron Robles of 12.87s.
