Andre Iguodala who is an American professional basketball player was born on 28th January of the year 1984. At present he is playing for Golden State Warriors of National Basketball Association. Andre is the son of Linda Shanklin who is of African American. His father is Nigerian and he also an elder brother who is named as Franks and he has played for the Lake Land College located in Mattoon, Illinois as well as Dayton. While growing up, Andre rooted for Chicago Bulls and he cites Michael Jordan as a player he looked up to.
He went to study at the Lanphier High School that is located in Springfield, Illinois. It is the school that produced other athletes who is mostly notable for the baseball Hall of Famer Robin Roberts as well as basketball guard Kevin Gamble. While there, he did very well academically as well as athletically and won All-Conference Academic Honors, National Honor Roll. In addition to that, he was also a State Journal Student-Athlete of The Week for several times. Andre then initially signed National Letter of Intent to play at the Arkansas. After their coach was fired, he attended the University of Arizona where he joined the future NBA players Luke Walton, Channing Frye, Salim Stoudamire, Mustafa Shakur, and Hassan Adams. For 2002-03 season he was named to Pac-10 All-Freshmen Team. He quickly established himself in his freshman year as one of the best all around players on team. He ranked in Top 5 for his team in just about the every major category. In 2003-04, as a sophomore, he was named team MVP after the leading team in rebounds, assists and the steals.
Andre was selected 9th overall in 2004 NBA draft by Philadelphia 76ers. When he got selected, the ESPN personality Dick Vitale commented that it was mistake for Sixers to take him. At the Rookie Challenge on 17th February of the year 2006, he won the MVP honors for his 30 point performance in Sophomores win. He then got participated in Slam Dunk Contest the following day. He reportedly agreed the six years, $80 million contract extension with Sixers on 12th August of 2008 and he officially signed on 17th August of the same year.
