Alexis Ohanian is an American internet entrepreneur, investor, activist as well as a best-selling author who is mostly known for being the co-founder of the social news website called Reddit, co-founding an early stage venture capital firm known as Initialized Capital, for helping to launch travel search website Hipmunk and for starting the social enterprise called Breadpig. In addition to that, Ohanian was also a partner at the Y Combinator and he is also the Executive Chairman of Reddit.

He attended Howard High School in Ellicott City, Maryland from where he graduated in 2001. He went to the University of Virginia from where he graduated with a degree in commerce and history in 2005.

After graduation, Ohanian and friend Steve Huffman developed the idea of MyMobileMenu to Y Combinator. They brought up the idea of after the company suggested coming up with the brilliant idea. He started to work as a member of Reddit Board of directors. He along with co-founder Huffman returned to Reddit full time on July 10, 2015.

Ohanian founded Breadpig, a company that produces a variety of items to plead to Greeks and gives a profit away to charity. He is no longer an active partner of Breadpig.

After the departure from Reddit in 2010, he worked in microfinance as Kiva fellow for three months. He who now serves as an advisor of Hipmunk, a travel search website assisted to launch it in 2010. He designed mascots for all his companies: Reddit alien ‘Snoo’, Hipmunk chipmunk ‘Chip’, Breadpig pig with bread wings and Initialized Capital honey badger. Ohanian launched a Kickstarter project with the music legend Lester Chambers, lead singer of The Chamber Brothers on 10 December 2012 to put together the album titled ‘Lester’s Time Has Come’. They aim to support the talented singer, artist, and musician with the help of the project.

On October 1, 2013, Alexis Ohanian published a book named ‘Without Their Permission: How the 21st Century Will Be Made, Not Managed’. The book rated four on the Wall Street Journal’s best sellers list.

During summer of 2013, Ohanian hosted a weekly online series titled ‘Small Empires’. He also founded the NYPD Radio podcast on October 15, 2014.
